hey all i in desperate need of help and schooling on my 57 pontiac axle.......i appear to have a bent axle shaft in my 63 nova g***er on the p***enger side (as it was pointed out to me by the starter at ne dragway on my first p*** of the day!) i have crawled under the car and from the casting marks i have determined that the rear end is a 57 pontiac. however the other casting number by the fill hole is stamped 622486 which doesnt jive with the casting numbers for that years pontiac axle....am i reading this wrong? manufacture stamp is h57 and it has the 7 fins. short of pulling the shaft out i really need to know what kind of axle shaft im gonna need! i ***ume a 28 spline.......any clarification would be appreciated............barry

sorry sbout that! hey all just want to make my introduction here........50yo firefigther with a love for old school g***ers! just finished a build on a 63 nova straight axle! im here in the northeast were parts for these old school cars are far and few apart! been wrenching on these since high school when u could actually afford to build them! my 4yo son follows me around my shop like a puppy and im bursting with pride when i turn around and see him with my tools wrenchen on his electric quad.........a true grease monkey!!!!!!!!!!! hope to touch base with others who have a p***ion for the old school g***ers!! ill post my questions proper like next time! .........hullfire1
