Try calling tom Kasper 847-88-4200 office or better home847-622-9225. He is in South Elgin on rte 31.Semi retired but relly knows his stuff. May not be cheap depending what parts are needed. Tore mine apart as I watched. Interesting stuff in there and some specialized tools needed.
847-888-4200 office. Hey don't expect too much I had to go down thru a 1/2 inch of medical cards to get to Tom's.
I thought the Muntz Jet came with either a Lincoln 336 Flathead V8 or the Cadillac 331 V8. If it does have a 317 Y block, it is a Lincoln engine (Ford did use it in some of their larger trucks.) One question: Are you going to the Branson Orphan car meet in early September? I talked to Wilber Kaylor last week and told me that there would be Muntz Jets and even a #17 Tucker. Sure would be good to see your car down there. I will be driving my 53 Willys Aero eagle down there. Good luck with the hydramatic, they are IMO the best automatic ever.
When the Lincoln flathead (337 c.i.) was replaced late in 1952 by the "modern" Y-block Lincoln, Earl "MadMan" Muntz followed suit in his Jets.
