I scored a 327 from a local guy who pulled it out of a 63' Vette. Wasn't original but think the numbers indicate Vette as well as other p*** cars. 3782878 Think that's what it is, hard to make out. Can you check that number too Cactus?
With the p***age of time and SBC interchangeability who knows what goes on inside or what the thing came in originally ?
Damn it was born on my 13th birthday. If it's a brokedown as I am the s**** idea is probably your best option.
Could be a 302 motor, 283 crank in 327 block. Check crank casting numbers. Also, check for forged or cast crank. Cast has a small sharp parting line, forged has a wide parting line that looks like it might had been ground down. If pistons are factory thay will have a GM marked in the underside close to pin. Stuff you probably already knew but I just threw it out there. Have a real fondness for these motors. Have had a few, and now have a '66 365 horse crate motor with no more then 5000 thousand miles on it. Does have the numbers stamped in it. Reason I know about the above info, this is exactly what it has plus 30/30 solid cam.
Just curious has anyone herd from Nutajunka lately? I bought the little 327 he posted in this thread. I will post a link if interested. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=710201 The reason I ask is when I purchased the 327 he stated he was in poor health. And didn't have the drive or energy to mess with this motor. I have pm him several times over the last year with no reply. Hope for the best to you Nutajunka. When I bought the motor I had no idea he was on the Hamb until he posted on my link here. Thanks Ron
from his profile he hasnt posted since 07-27-2012, 07:46 AM which is well over a year but it shows : Last Activity: 12-18-2013 11:19 AM <!-- / current activity -->
Thanks uncle buck, at one time I had some contact info but have idea where. I remember things were not good with his health situation. At the time our family was struggling with terminal cancer of my sons wife. It tends to open your eyes to others health situations. I just wanted to share the sounds of the old 327 pulling my 55 down the road. Ron
Thanks lippy this the link to the rest of the story. Utube link is 2 pages in post 36. Ron http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=710201
I still have that pan if interested pm me. At some point in time someone smashed down the oil baffle but trap door works and overall good condition. Ron
