This car has been sitting in an open garage about 200yds from my house for the last 5yrs. The guy that owned it was a scammer that apparently pissed somebody off because they smashed the glass out of 3 sides. He left town and the wife is liquidating what he left behind. So for just above scrap price I brought it home.

And it runs. The water pump is shot though.

The plans are put glass in it, make it roadworthy, touch up the paint and drive it. I found a source for the windshield, the side glass is flat so I can have it cut, but the tailgate window is contoured and I haven't had any luck finding that yet. I may end up trying to fit it with Lexan.

It may need a art type leaded glass tailgate window;),a Flying eye or something cool and custom.
Just idea for getting around no window the better way.;)

Try asking over on the forum of the Studebaker Drivers Club for the backlite, etc.
Good luck, and keep us informed!

    1/2 done,

I just noticed your location, funny. I have a 62 Lark wagon and I never would have guessed that there was another Lark wagon so close. Definitely check out the SDC forum, they are a ton of help. Parts aren't as difficult to find as you might think.

    Good luck.

They actually have all the glass. Thanks for the link!

I have that rear glass on my watch list now. Thanks for the link, if I win it you're my new hero!

I don't know if I've seen your wagon around or not. I haven't been to any local cruises since I sold my gasser in '09.

I think that ebay listing has been around for awhile, you have a pretty good chance of winning it.

I would be surprised if you had seen my wagon. It's been non-operational in my garage for awhile waiting for me to get some time to work on it.

I haven't checked yet, PO's wife is having issues getting a title so I'm stopping work till that's resolved.
Thanks for the links. Nice to know there's Stude parts as close as Fairborn.

Yeah! Another old Lark wagon! I get a lot of attention everywhere I drive mine.

Here's mine currently...haven't done much appearance wise because I blew up my tranny on a poker run last fall.

Getting it running for now. I want it to be a year round daily driver so eventually I may put in a painfully stock SBC/700R4 combo so finding parts on the road isn't an issue. By on the road I mean Bonneville, family vacation in Florida or where ever else I decide to go.

  26. Man that back glass worked out like a charm. You were probably the only man on earth looking for one. Hope the title deal works out.

What's in it for a drive train now? Says lark VII, can't do much better than the 259 or 289 Studie V8, forged crank, timing gears no chain, solid lifters, pretty unique exhaust note. 2 bbl intake can easliy be machined for a 4bbl, stud holes are already there, just need to open up the base to accomodate the new carb. With small carter AFB the 259 will make about 200 HP, the 289 about 225.

Relable as a hammer, heavy as an anvil but good motors, Standard trans is Borg Warner, does it have OD, or if automatic its likely cruisomatic, Stude bought Ford autos for quite a few years in the 60's.

there is also a guy making front disc conversions.

  28. yeah....I second that motion.....keep the Stude V8.

For roadtrips, just take a set of new replacement engine externals with you (water pump, fuel pump, etc, etc) and you'll be fine.

Update: I got the title, trying to find a windshield for less than $500. I can't bring myself to pay the same amount for a windshield that I paid for the whole damn car.

  30. Yeah, that ol' seven cylinder Stude engine can't be beat;):D
    Just jerkin' yer chain
