46, nice job! Too bad your method was so labor intensive; I imagine you could sell a bunch of those if they were priced in line with other cars.
i saw barry on starage wars find one and it was german made from the '40's-'50's and worth a ton! pretty wild to watch go arouind the track.
Walking around the RCX show last weekend was cool, but when I saw the tether car booth...I was hooked!!! Here's some of the beauties they had... This one belongs to Crazydaddyo.....
I have never seen these streamliner style cars before. They are badass!!! The guy in the booth said they can go 200mph!!!
Tether Cars are Beautiful, Art, Mechanical marvel. I own the last incarnation from Cox, called a Shrike. .049 prop driven. I run the thing every summer and we all laugh like kids watching it go. A friend has a few real ones in a collection, pretty cool to look and actually touch them.
I've been lurking on this thread since it opened, guess I'll throw in. I inherited my uncle's "F" years ago. Pretty rough, engine is seized, missing a lot of parts. There isn't enough money out there to buy it. Uploaded with ImageShack.us
Excellent job John - the new site looks better than ever with so many cool cars. Sorry to hear about all the procrastinating - sounds painful!!!!!!!!
After an article in a small uk magazine, my young son was inspired by a simple aero car. Although a new build, I think the Webra engine is 70's, it was my cousin's hand down but I could never get it going. It has been made from three ash planks cut to an appropriate profile. Still have a little work to do but great fun, quick and cheap.
In the new Goodguys Gazette it says they are going to have tether car races in Pleasanton this year. Check it out.
I'm looking for info on John Carlson mite cars from the midwest around 1948 to 1953 . My dads car, that I still have , is a McCoy.019 , stocking re-inforced , balsa body , with a 1 piece bridle in the pan . John Lorenz has verified that much , but I want to find out more.My dad's car has an AMRCA emblem on it , but I don't know what years exactly he ran the car. Sadly, my dad has been gone for 10 yrs. now , and now I want to know more! Any help would be greatly appreciated ! My dad's name is John Louis Rothfuchs and he raced the car around Michigan City In. thanks for any help ! chrisrothfuchs63
I was given this June 1946 POPULAR MECHANICS magazine several years ago by good friend "Bad Bob", thought I'd share with you folks here on the HAMB. Some really great looking cars in this thread, great history also.
