Yep, you're absolutely right about internet rumors, KIRK...that's how the BS starts!
I'll be curious to see if the people claiming to have heard the threat/comment from a Rep, ever drop a name.

I understand business is business and you have to do what you have to do to keep a business alive. I also understand the numbers were dropping at Rhinebeck, because I saw the decline year after year...but I'll miss Good Guys in Rhinebeck...you guys did an awesome job!!

We would have loved to stay in Rhinebeck. I'm not at liberty to talk about all the details.

There has been ZERO talk internally about killing the East Coast Nationals if Springfield doesn't pan out. If it doesn't work after a few years of trying, we'd look for a venue that may work better. However we are very excited about this new venue.

It's interesting how there is never a person who hears any of this stuff firsthand.

Bring the venue down to the South East. Savannah could sure use a good car show! I would support it. (Born, raised, and educated in Enfield, CT.)

    Understood.

I hope if Springfield doesn't work out, you can still try another northern east coast location. There's soo many cars around here, I still can't imagine not having an East Coast Nationals!

I was originally planning on going to the LA Roadster show but had to change plans due to work load. Now I'm going to go to this show.
Here's the only issue I've had with Goodguys events. It's not the event cost. It's that the price is the same across the board. A few years back it cost the same for me to go to Columbus, a great show, as it did to go to Pocono, a not so good show. I think people, especially around here, are looking for value. It's like going to a restaurant and a burger is the
same price a steak. Maybe a lower cost would get the numbers up and make it an event worth the same as the other high caliber GG shows.

Why would that make any sense?

If dropping the price $10 would be a deciding factor on going to see the mass of cars and people and the swap meet, the car corral, and the AutoCross, and the special exhibits, and the assortment of kid-friendly activities for the weekend, I would recommend skipping a burger lunch and go see some hot rods.

It's even a healthy sacrifice = Eat a greasy burger meal... or... save the cash and walk around a car show all weekend. :D

    LOL.

Hell...I'm not going to think aout the cost of the show...it's in my backyard...Ill go and have a good time...atleast I'll spend my money on something I like to do...if you are going to worry about the cost of a show...then why are we messin' with hot rods anyways...I'll still eat a grezzy burger meal...

theyve been playign radio ads for the past few weeks here in CT for it. The Big E grounds are perfect for this event with plenty of space to make it a killer event. go and enjoy it!

I wish GG good luck with their new location, but there will be three of us not attending due to the fact we just went for one day to Rhinebeck, and Springfield is just too far for a one day drive.

I will skip Springfield. I'll put my gas money towards the Silver City shakedown in Meridan CT this weekend, and then Rumblers Terryville in a few weeks. Another GG show at a typical venue just doesnt do it for me. Yeah Yeah, I know all about the location. Have been there too many times to count for the Big E, the winter swapmeet, the model train show, and everything else the hold in all the exposition buildings. Still not Rhinebeck.
Oh, but sunday I could drive my 95 Suburban with dropped spindles, and other slight mods in? well, that changes everything....

  19. always enjoyed going to rhinebeck. why not have it at watkins glen international? plenty of room, adequate motels with in reasonable distance, lots of wineries if your in to that. shelby american there this weekend.

You all have a great time. I'm going to the Nostalgia Drags / Show / Swap at Lebanon Valley on Sunday.

  21. 3 of my buddies and I will head out to W.Springfield on Thursday.
We'll give it a try. I've always liked the Goodguys events in the past and I'm very sure they'll give Springfield their best effort to put on a fine show.
Yes.......I do miss the Rhinebeck location and I'm a little uneasy about this being as good as, or better than the former spot, but I'm a gambler, so we got to give it a shot.

  22. Pat and I will be going, if the weather holds, will give it a shot. Kirk will you be there? Carlg

I wish, but not this time. Brandon will be there. It's actually shaping up pretty well.

  24. I will be going, praying for good weather.

  25. I should be there, just not sure if I'm driving the 34 or the 40! Weather is looking good.

  26. I'll be there Fri-Sat with a couple of my buds from LI in my 40 Ford coupe - I loved Rhinebeck, especially when it was in the Fall, but hey, I'm up for giving the new location a shot.

Will you be at the show, Kirk?

Sorry to say the Goodguys Springfield, MA 2012 was a very big dissapointment... Weather was great, but very little turn out and very very small swap meet!

Funny, I heard Goodguys was all excited at the 1,300 car turn out???
I also heard from an extremely reliable source that there were only about 15 vendors in the 'swap meet'. Hardly an improvement over the Rhinebeck location swap meet vendor count. This is one of the big reasons they listed for moving.
I guess most spectators didn't mind the additional $5.00 to park which the fairgrounds (or a subsidiary) gets.

1300 was a good turnout compared to Rhinebeck. We have had a flood of positive emails and phone calls.

They are already booking new vendor for 2013 because the word is quickly spreading.

If there was something you didn't like, let me know, I'll pass it along to the crew.

I have to say it was a good turn out and a good show, I'm glad the weather held out for everybody. I like talking to the hotrodders and checking out the cars. I'll be back next year...
