anyone hear of www.lakeheaders.com prices seem reasonable but thought I would ask about quality... looking at these for my nailhead
that's pretty cool - I made mine from the speedway kit and they are not beautifull, I am not sure if I'd attempt another set
Have seen his stuff on E-Bay and almost ordered some last week. Found a set of speedways kits for cheap so I went that route. I hope the will work for you. They sure look cool
They don't look very good quality to me, I think the individual tubes should sweep back a little and go in at an angle. You can do better yourself.
I gotta set from him for my hemi a few weeks back. They are awsome. I cant tig weld a bit so I had to farm them out plus try finding descent headers for an early hemi. We had great communication and he even welded some baffles in for me. The flats are thick, the bends all very uniform, and they merge very well. Instead of just pushing the corkscrew baffles in and pounding them then welding them in a few spots he welded it all together split the main tube and slid the baffles in, welded then in solid then re-rolled the tube and welded them up. They will need a little grinding before sending them out to be finished but overall I was very happy. heres some pix and please ignore my filthy garage. It has been a mad thrash trying to get this car done.
hey thanks. What did the extra work (baffles etc.) set you back... what was the turnaround time also...
I think thats who I got mine from. The quality was good, but they do take some finishing. The pipes were pretty long going into the flange, so I had to trim them. The only thing I wasn't too sure about is where the 2 pipes go in the middle (sbc), there was just one 8 shaped hole. This took a bit of filling with weld, but they came out good. I would have rather had 2 individual holes. I had a friend of a friend tig weld them up for me. I can post pics later if you want to see.
Is this really the Minnesota Hot Rod Hardware guys? I want some for my touring but I am afraid this kids will bump into them.
yes please... Im a nailhead newbie. He offers them for a 401 but Im guessing they will fit a 425 also???
I got a set from him for my Hemi. They cleared the frame, cowl, and steering real good. I will probably buy from him in the future.
Here's some pics of mine...still have to dress the welds on the mating surface. Notice the area in the middle two pipes. I think it'll work ok, but to me, not the ideal shape for the flange. Again I'm not 100% sure I bought them from the same person.
Its SALTFLATMATT from here on the hamb for the old guys who remember... he ran the now defunct Twin Citys Street Rods. hes a hell of a salesman ill tell you that much. Tuck
I wondered what became of him. Weren't you going to build a bubble-top from one of his T frames and bodies he used to sell?
yes... it was a complete ch***is for trade work. lets just say im sure he had good intentions... but they didnt pan out. Oh well, everyone needs a second chance- and here he goes again. I hope he learned what not to do this time around and wish him the best. maybe he'll rule this time around... I think his headers LOOK cool- for real... I seen a set on shifts hot rod they looked strong to say the least. Tuck
Matts a heck of a nice guy and a great fabricator, I wouldnt be afraid to buy those headers. I have a crossmember and and a brake pedal mount he fabbed, nice stuff. Plus he plays with REALLY FAST Indy type cars!
got a finished set for my sbc from him ,they are great , no problems on the fit or finish and he shipped them out fast.I had a set i made from speedway and they were light duty compared to his. pops
Their products look really good quality. Specially those UFab intakes, hope he can make one for my 368.
I got a set for my 32, the guys really cool. I bought the kit but when I got em the holes that were drilled on the main big tube for the smaller stacks werent big enough and didnt match up well. I ended up takin em all apart, drillin out the holes and welded em back up. I like em though, got no complaints at all. They shipped quick, real thick flanges and fairly inexpensive!
