I saw this in the newspaper today. I have not been in this yard in 8 years or so, but they were plenty of cars from the 30s-50s. There should be some model As, and probably some model Ts. Andy was a restorer, and he donated a bunch of cars to the car museum in Gunnison CO that has a building named after Andy. I copied this text directly from the newspapers website, and they mis-spelled Andy's name. His last name was Mallet. I will be going, and although I do not any more competition, I would hate for any of these cars to go to the scrappers. Also, these cars are located in Delta CO, which is the driest place in CO, and gets less rain then Tucson, so these cars are pretty complete, and rust free, compared to most in Colorado. THE ESTATE of Andy Ballet, August 7, Hwy 50 north of Delta. Restored classic cars, 250 project cars, thousands of parts. This guy is THE reason i started to get into old cars. I lived right across the highway and got to see him build some real nice cars. He was a purist, but talented one the less. I wish I could make it over. I would buy something. I care not what. Good luck. Save what you can.
Link to pics of the stuff that's up for auction. Andy was my neighbor in the '70s. http://www.auctionzip.com/cgi-bin/photopanel.cgi?listingid=903870&category=0&zip=&kwd=
Yes it is a couple Airflows.I have one as a finished custom and would jump at buying more if I had $ LOL. A road trip with a trailer would be happening .Looks like a bunch of cool stuff.
I am headed out but I am a little worried. Last week there were 250 cars for auction. This week it became 75 project cars, and some restored cars. Also the pics on the website, do not show any of the cars from the 30s that I know were there last year. I guess we will see what they are selling. Brian
it was the auctioneers crappy info that made me decide it wasn't worth the risk to drive across the state, hard to tell if there is anything good left or not. so no doubt, given their poor promotion of the sale, there should be some good deals to be had for whoever does show up. maybe it was published better locally, but i couldn't find anything more than the info posted here.
OK. After driving to this auction, I find that it has been postponed a couple of weeks. They apparantly decided that the auctioneer, had not done a good job promoting it, and so he was fired and they will be getting a new company to auction everything. They will call me when they have a date and time, and I will post it here. A lot of the cars that I remember from a few years back are not there now, but there are some. I took lots of pics, and I will post them when I get them uploaded. Brian
Time to bring this back up again. I got a phone call last night that the auction is now underway online. It will run for the next 2 weeks. Go here http://www.theauctionteam.com/real-estate-auctions/index.php Brian
I have bids on about 20 cars and parts. I hope that someone here bids me up so that I dont have to take them, but I cant let them go to scrap either. Brian
Saw this link on another site: http://bcauction.net/nextauct.htm Not sure if it is the same one, but there is a lot of interesting stuff there.
