My dad's 77th birthday in June and I couldn't think of a gift he could use. Then i thought of his coupe that he painted 30+ yrs ago and never did get the interior done in it so his seats are a 3 and 5 gallon white bucket. Although these bucket seats are great, they aren't exactly something he could use if he were to drive somewhere besides the little tavern a mile away.

I need measurements and like a "blueprint" for the front seat and maybe i can throw together some temporary seat covers using my vinyl remnants. The original seats are bare springs so anything is better than nothing. I just don't think my sister can get up in the barn rafters and get the measurements for me without him knowing and i live too far away to help her out.

Does anyone here have a 46-48 coupe they could get the measurements for me from. I'm assuming these years the seats are relatively the same.

I didn't know whether to call it a 5 window or if just coupe was good or if it's called something else. Below are pics. Couldn't find the one without anyone in the car though. This was the great grandkids about to go for first ride, they weren't to thrilled looking. lol

Hoping if he at least has one seat he will drive the poor thing more than just a couple times a year to go have a beer. He might need to clean the gas tank though as right now it's full of gunk so he uses a 1 gallon bleach bottle wired to the supports where the back seat goes. Won't get far on that!

Thought i might add i'm by no means an upholsterer. Have only done my bucket seat covers for my galaxie so precise measurements aren't a must. There are 3 or 4 coupes in the Spanaway, WA area only i don't know the owners and if i wait til the rain stops and the cars start coming out to find and ask them i won't get it done by june 1st!

    Thanks!

I don't have the original seat anymore, but I used the seats out of a 99-04 chevy 1/2 ton truck.
They fit real nice, have built in seat belts and are comfortable to ride in.

Thanks Matt! He has the seats but the mice liked the upholstery on them so after 40+ yrs it all kind of walked away. :) The covers won't be proper fitting but maybe sort of close or as close as i can get without a seat to work with anyway.

Going to add some padded vinyl to the backside of a pair of jeans in his size also as a gag gift. That way regardless of what he has to sit on he will have a vinyl seat cover. :)

I just got back from my dads who's birthday party was last weekend. The seat covers fit pretty good for not having a seat to use to make them. I have the rear seat in my galaxie still right now for the coupe. At least this time i have a seat to go by for covers. Here's a pic, not a good one but can see how they turned out. I only uses some remnant vinyl i had. They are basically temporary but beats bare springs! He was sure surprised! Wondered how i did that without the seats.

Also will share a pic of the bucket seat covers for his white buckets he's used in the car for 30+ yrs.
