How to make a bullet grill?

    I heard of alot of guys making 60's style kustom bullet grills with chrome drawer knobs. I was wondering what surface material do you fellas use in the grill opening to attached the knobs or little bulets to. thanks

    Use expanded metal. check metal supply houses for all diffrent kinds. sparky:D

    I used to have a book that you order all kinds of differnt sheet metal that had all differnt patterns in it. It wasnt expanded steel it was sheet metal you could get all differnt shaped holes(round, square, and octigon) in differnt sizes. But of corse I cant find it. But you can get it you just have to look for it. I think that I have also seen a small selection at lowes.

    I was originally thinkin of using perferated metal, but was concerned that there would be heating problems from not enough air flow to radiator

    I used 1/2 " expanded(mesh) steel. Painted flatblack,with 88 chrome ball-knobs. Yeah, my car's got a lot of balls.:D Sparky

    we did my friends packard with a mshe type metal we found at home depot...i think its intended for use as a cover for a home radiator.

    i used to have a 62 mercury that ran a grille made out of 18 wheeler lug nut covers....crude but looked cool.
