Mine is a 1940 willys P/U with a stock willys frame that I boxed and added crossmembers to for the 42" long ladder bars and the tranny mount. I am running a stock willys front axle that I drilled on parallel springs, out back is a 9" ford with Moser axles and center section spinning 2.86 gears. The engine is a 383 chevy running a Callies crank, Oliver billet rods and main caps, J&E pistons with an Isky roller cam topped with a set of ported and flowed World products Iron heads Jesel shaft mounted rockers and belt drive, All of that is force fed by a 6-71 Weiand blower and a Hilborn 4 port set up by Jr. Thompson. The tranny is a magnesium Doug Nash 5spd crash box. The wheels are magnesium American torque thrusts. The cab and bed are steel and the front wrap is a 1 piece cal. The truck weighs 2093 lbs with 52 percent front weight.

Cool set-up. I like those 383 Chevys. That truck at 2100 lbs should fly. Jr is still sharp as a tack. He's a nice guy and has been a good friend to me. You'll probably find your fuel set-up is real close right where he started you. Was that 2.86 gear ratio a typo, or does that 5-speed just have a killer first gear in it? Should be a very cool piece when it's done. Look forward to hearing any updates on it. I'm doing a '40 pick up in the future myself. I want to put a blown, injected wedge in it and run it on the street.

The tranny has a 3.27 first gear. The engine makes 920 hp according to Fowler engines. Mine is a hot rod and will see street duty as well, It will show up at the drags with a liscense plate and inspection sticker

You probably were just trying to impress your friends with the garbage you wrote, and that's fine. But you really should remember that there are other people that can read what you write, and use some common sense. (You might need a part some day, and I'm the only guy at the track with it. Wouldn't that be a hoot?)

Look pal. I do think you missed the point. My comments were more about bracket racing and the general so-called nostalgia races that occur today than bracket racers. Trying to bracket race nostalgia cars at a nostalgia event makes no sense. They didn't bracket race in the old days. It's like taking a sprint car down the quarter mile. They weren't built for that. Nostalgia cars make lousy bracket cars, and pretty much can't hit their dial, and at the very least it is confusing to the general spectator. (makes for a poor show). There were some very cool cars at Thompson, like Littleman's primer pick-up, among others. But if you think that all the mix matches going down the track would make for a great show, then I guess we're just going to have to disagree. Furthermore, you have no sense of humor. You would probably be much happier if you realized that some people just joke around like that, and not be so damn serious. As for name-calling, it's just cowardly at a distance. If you talked to people like that in person, I guarantee you'd get the shit kicked out of you in no time. You know it. So do I. Again, I said what I said with some humor intended. Sorry you didn't see it that way. Please remember to remove the pole from your ass. You'll be much happier.

I talked to Ken for an hour one night... he's got some bitchen gassers... and he'd not afraid to run them. Ken is into the gassers like people on the HAMB are into traditional hot rods... ok, bad analogy... Ken is into AA/GS cars MORE than people on the HAMB are into traditional hot rods... the dude eats, sleeps, drinks and DRIVES these bad boys... so he comes off as an ass hole on the internet, so what... most of us do anyway... after all, this place is known for interpreting excitement for something as being a braggart, know-it-all, pompass-ass... which, after an hour with Ken on the phone, I can tell you he is not.

Bottom line is, if Ken shows up with his AA/GS (gas supercharged) Will-ees... and runs it... you'll have an "all day sucker" your old lady will get to play with until breakfast the next morning.

I for one would love to see the look on your faces when he drops the hammer on that mother fucker... and just wish I had enough beans in the broiler to run 8's in a gasser so I could race him!

Anyone else?
