I cut down a 56 chevy rear bumper for my 53 chevy. It was cut where the bumper guards go so I figured I would cover the welded areas with a bumper guard that covers the entire bumper in those areas instead of the small factory bumper guards with the lamps in them. I would like to use an overider but am having issues finding one that is wide enough. Do you guys have any ideas? I found a set of 54 merc guards that I wonder would work with a little lovin. Or I have a set of NOS 54 guards or some 56 front guards I could modify. I have not found the wagon guards repoped or any in rechromable condition or I may go that route.

Just looking for thoughts or if anyone has used anything different for a rear bumper guard on a 56 rear bumper.

  2. I don't know of an over rider that wide. The front bumper guards from a '53 Stude may work for ya, they are not too obtrusive. I have to go to the garage later I'll try and find a pair and snap a pic for ya if you want.

By the way that rear 3/4 profile looks pretty good.

That thing looks familiar , I cut 4 inches out of it and tipped up in the center to fit the contour

that overider looks great on ther choprdwn.

Anyone got any other ideas for this bumper? I want something to go the entire height of the bumper to cover where I narrowed the bumper up. IM still thinking a set of 54 merc bumper guards might work, anyone attempted it?

How about maybe using packard rear bumperettes.

  7. I have one of those pontiac overriders if you want to try it to see what it looks like.
