Well my frame was not ready this week so I figured I had better get some of the small stuff caught up on the 34 truck. So I invited Slide and my Pops Dirty2 over to lend a hamb hand. I got a 35-36 car dash from Visor and had to do some repairs on it before I could start mocking it up. After we got the cowl cleaned up and mounted the firewall it was time to start tackling the dash. After some preliminary cuts to the sides we noticed the 35-36 contour was not gonna work. I had to cut a edge out of the sides to the center where the waterfall sits to make it sit flush like a stock dash. The 35 dash had a slight curve to it and the truck was flat. After a few hours of cutting and grinding and then welding back together it decided it wanted to fit. Just lack ligning up some holes and bolting in place. Other progress was that I got a doaner Caravan seat that I am gonna cut down to fit, rebuilt my Rochester's, and ordered some linkage from MArty at Northwest Speed. Heres a few pics of the progress. Here the dash when I started you can see the curve it has After some small cuts and tacked back together Heres how she sites now. The motor as it sits now
Hey Rusty, I have one of those round 35/36 ford ash trays that I think would fit in the center of your new dash. Let me know. RC
Looks good, Rusty! Thanks for letting me come out the other nite, even though I don't feel like I was much help... How did the upper corners of the dash turn out? That's what yall were workin' on when I left. It was real cool to see how the curve of the top of the dash was almost dead even with the curve of the windshield opening. That little truck is gonna be real cool!
Hey Slide no problem. It always help to have a extra hand or a better thought. After we got it to were the sides fit we noticed that the curve of a 35-36 is not flat like the 32-34. SO I had to do alittle t******* and then welding back together. What a chore to have somethinf different. I quess it will be worth it anybody can put a 32-34 dash in a 32-34 truck. Anyhow thanks for the help.
