OK you Houston HAMBr's where is the "good" local chrome shop. Note that I did not say cheap chrome shop, even though I like that word cheao, I need reasonable price and GOOD. Got a pair of valve covers, a valley pan and a couple of other small items to get chromed for my MEL engine.

I've used Speed and Sport down by the Ship channel. Good service, good product, slow and expensive. I would recommend them if you don't have a timeline and want quality but be ready to pay. I've used Bright Metal in the Heights, SUPPPPEEEERRR SLOW, Expensive and ****ty work. I would never recommend these guys to anybody ever, stay away, GUS all but ruined a set of Flathead Heads for me. So I am open to trying anyone else that doesn't ****! I'll be watching this thread.
I have used T&B in Baytown and if they are still in business I do NOT recomend them. I used Bright Metal Works of the Heights in Houston. They did good job on plating but did not do a good job on smoothing before they plated. I know you asked for good chrome shops in the Houston area and I have not answered that question, but I didn't want you to make the same mistakes I did. Dan
I see nothing has changed. I took my chrome to Gus (Olivares) at Bright Metals in 1991 and he did a lousy job. You think he would have learned to plate in the intervening 15 years! I'm beating my head trying to find a place. I guess I'll try Speed and Sport. Do you have a physical address?

I Was Told At The Spring Fling Show In Rosenberg By Bing Crosby {an Old Hot Rodder That Was In The Plating Business At One Time} That The Problem With Chrome Plating These Days Is Caused By The Enviromental Controls Put On It.the Sub Plating Has Been Restricted So The End Product Is Not As Good. Just Wish Powder Coating Was Better . Deucemanab
I used Superior on my '62 stuff and had pretty good luck with them. Of course, I may have been ripped off and don't know it, but the stuff was straight and it didn't have polishing marks in the metal... finding a good plater is harder than finding a good brain surgeon, it seems. Good luck, Billy
I have used Speed and Sport. Very good work in general. Be sure to take the time to give detailed instructions and also remember they do get backed up so take that into consideration for time planning. I was very pleased with the work they did on my motorcycle parts.
