I thought you guys either might get a kick outta this, or ream me a new *** for wasting my beer $$$. Dennis Varni had some sculptor friend of his on the west coast make this up for his sedan. He had the Bones' crew attach it to his radiator cap. I had to have one for the 3W. Kinda looks alien.
i dont care, that is neat... looks like the casting was done well, it also lends another cool detail to look at on the car.
I dig it. $300 ain't a lot for a sculpture. You'll get your moneys worth in collecting oohs and aahs. Nice piece.
"Goober, the Ballbuster!" I knew I'd get at least one. Yeah guys, it'll be nailed down good. They'll hafta take a pry bar to get it off!
Larry, It looks cool. We all have something on our cars that we paid what others might see as silly but you you seen it and "had to have it" we have all been there, I know I have. At least I know you didn't waste the money from the steering wheel. Thanks again for that by the way.
My apologies Goober. I thought you were ribbin' me. Thanks to all for the kind words. And this ****er is HEAVY too!
Hot Rods don't have hood ornaments... And before anybody mentions the Isky "T".... If there was one thing I'd change about that car it'd be that stupid-***ed devil.
When I worked at Custom Plating Spe******ts we chromed lots of hood ornaments/radiator caps that cost $1000-$1200 just to do the plating. Some are so intricate in design that smoothing out the pits and prepping them for a show finish made for hours and hours of prep work. From what I've seen, your $300 cap is a bargain.
I am Sooo glad you said that! Need to show this to my other half. She thinks this car has gone too far already.
Glad to help. Here's another interesting story you might find amusing. A fella with a finned Mopar (my favorite kind) came into the shop with a huge load of pieces to get plated or polished. His bill was in the 3K range. He asked if he could pay for $300 of it with a personal check and the rest in cash. That wasn't a problem for Terry (the guy in charge) but he asked why he wanted to pay only $300 with a check. The customer told Terry that his wife had no idea how much chrome plating costs, so he figured he could show her the $300 check receipt and tell her that it only costed $300 and not get in trouble for spending so much money on the car. I always liked that story.
That is a damn cool cap,I also saw(on here I think) one of a girl laying on her back, legs up in the air spread like a "V" and she was holding the "8" between them.....that is my fav!
thanks for the tip ... nice piece---- he he. thats the first time i have ever said that to another man , honest!!!
Wouldn't that be the ****s! I think Ken said he only made 4 or 5 of em, and their all owned by guys in the R-Bones Hotrod Club. They made me a member, blood initiation and all!
Larry that skull cap rules! That caught my eye in the magazine too. Money well spent for some cool art.
How about a $500 radiator mascot from Louis Lejeune Ltd of England - makers of radiator mascots since 1910. Check their web site; http://www.louislejeune.com/ My favourite is this skull and bones one which I am going to put on my T Modified. NB it's the pirate motif NOT the club for US Presidents.
