Hey guys, I am getting ready to replace the floorbaords in my 53 hardtop, and noticed something last night. On each of the outer body mount holes, by the door hinges, there is a "flange" over each of them. I have looked through other threads, mostly sedans, and have not noticed it.

I have decided I will either have to trim my new floor panels right up to it and weld to it, or try to cut it out, lay my floor panel in, and weld it back. =OR= replace it if someone is repopping this part.

Do the seadans have this peice, and everybody just leaves them off when replacing? It covers part of the toe board, and goes partway up the door jam. it will take a bit of involvement to cut it loose and recycle it.

You can see it in the left hand side of the pic if my description isnt clear enough. Im really wanting to push myself to improve on this project, and would like to do it right.

    I'm open for suggestions:confused:

I replaced these in my 50 chevy sedan. Chevys of the 40s repops them. Im not sure if they make them for the 53/54, but Id be willing to bet if they dont, the ones for the 49-52 would work, they look identical. They have a great website, just google chevys of the 40s. It is a little work to get them out, but it is doable. Look at the replacement to get an idea where you need to grind and drill. After I removed it, i installed my floor and welded the new one on top. Good luck. I can try to send pics of mine if you'd like

That looks like an add on. That isnt normal for any 53/54 I have seen. Odds are you will remove those and find the reason.
Yes you can get front floor pans left and right as well as the toe boards.
They even make em for the rear seats.

the post reneforcement brace is p/n213,

i have never seen these installed on 53 chev's but that does not mean it never happened or it is a early year carry over from 49-52 and was eliminated later in the year. they are nearly impossable to save due to all the welding needed to install them.

this part was on all 49-52 chevy's.

from the photo your floors are 53/4 floors

you can get them from us directly 216-541-4585 or

Dellyjonut is right on, I have never noticed those online before. They are thick enough that I may try and carefull remove and try to properly refurb. Either way, I think they are coming out, we'll see if I can salvage them good enough to re-use.

    Thanks for the help!

I had to destroy mine to get them out. Id plan on a new set if I were you. Interesting to hear that they may not be original. Maybe someone had a door alignment issue at some time or it was part of an old collision repair....just a thought
