According to November Street Rodder, Doc Frohmader published a series of rebuild articles for Buick Nailheads. Does anyone have the exact year these articles were printed in Street Rodder magazine? I have most of the mags from at least since 1992 just have to find them.
Yeah, Doc has them on Webrodder. He happens live out this way but I have not visited him for a while.
Direct link to part 1 on webrodder. http://www.webrodder.com/article.php?AID=58&SID=60&CID=15 There is another nailhead buildup series on there as well.
Those articles are pretty much directly responsible for my love of nailheads. I always liked em before then but at the ripe old age of 22 (when the articles started) it became apparent to me that I needed to find a nailhead for the roadster I was building... instead of the SBC that I had already procured for it. At the time, a nailhead seemed so far out of reach and here I am now with 3 sittin in my garage and 2 of those 3 in running cars. Wow! What a difference a short period of time makes!
Does anyone know how to contact Doc Frohmader or what has happened to the Webrodder site? I am trying to access the Nailhead rebuild series by Doc but having no luck with that website. Any help or advice appreciated. Thanks, Ross
Doc really isn't a Nailhead expert, he got most of the information for those articles from others. No disrespect, but there are much more knowledgeable people out there about those engine. All your questions and more can be answered here, v8buick.com, or the yahoo nailhead email list
Doc burned all his bridges here, screwed quite a few craftsmen out of time and parts. He also can't show his face in Belle Fourche SD, half the town will kick his *** while the other half kicks him in the nuts.
Thanks for the update. Thats unfortunate, some of the Webrodder articles I saw were very informative, not just Nailhead but other Buick upgrades as well.
Here ya go Tom, stumbled upon these, he is p***ing off all of these Merc pictures I took as his own with copyright watermarks and everything. What a POS http://webrodder.com/article.php?AID=357&SID=60
That' to bad, I always enjoyed his alternative engine series articles in STREET RODDER. (that's why I bought most of them) I always wondered that ever happened to him? I always wanted to see him build a Desoto hemi or caddillac flathead, as well as a few other engines with John Beck in the pages of SRM.
