Bought this in October, 1969. Here it is in June, 1970 At Forth Monmouth NJ. I had bumpers but took them off for a while.

Here it is in July, 2011, still have it.

My wife bought a 66 427/425hp convertable in 66,we still have it with 92k on the clock.Ive been very carefull with the car not to replace anything, always had the original parts rebuilt or did it myself,so it has 100% correct numbers, except for the hurst shifter.

  7. Bought it in 1963, sold it in 1966. Couldn't afford all the tickets and all the points on my drivers license.

One of my best friends bought a '57 in about '64. He still has it, but it's been off the road for about 20 years. I'm rebuilding it mechanically right now, will soon get the body back on. It has a 327 solid lifter engine with 2.02 heads.

My dad bought this 66 in 1972. L79 350HP 4speed AM-FM and side pipes. Engine has never had a valve cover off. Finally had to break down and do all the brakes this spring.

Mine is OT I bought a 69 in 89, I still have it. My question is how long does an engine have to be in a corvette to be a corvette engine. Mine has an engine I built that started out in a 4X4 truck ;>)

Its all about numbers and date codes. Thats what makes it a corvette engine. If the car wasnt built with it,it will never be right.

Coming up on 15 years. I loved it when I got it and still do. Not a hot rod but when you nail the throttle and the 350/327 starts pulling it feels pretty "hot roddy" to me. It's all stock and I just try to keep it going. Needs a brake caliper and some tires right now.

Bought this car in 1977, that needed work and had a blown motor. Pretty inexpensive cars then. I took a two week vacation (more like a thrash) re-doing the body and paint, new engine (327/365 crate engine from Penske Chevrolet) rebuilt the suspension, new interior and convertible top and started enjoying the car. Here it is in 1979 and today (two more repaints later) and still enjoying the car. Feel like a teenager every time I hear it start. Funny to see me with a cigarette as I have not smoked since the 80s.

I have tried at least half a dozen cams seeing if there is anything magical but now have the original 30/30 cam back in it and have to admit it is the best. I put a M22 wide ratio in it and so it acts a bit more lively down low and still sings to 7000 if you so desire.-Jim

I can't believe your brother gave you that car !!! My 57' is just an old stock vette, not a hot rod, but I've owned it nearly 11 yrs. 3-speed, dual quads, hard top only. The arctic blue 57' in the 2nd pic is owned by a buddy of mine. Dual quad, power top and windows, 4-speed....and...wait for it...he's the original owner !!!!

This is a 2012 thread and my avatar car was not finished at that time. I finished the car days before Autorama 2013. It was an old drag car out of New Mexico that I bought when I lived in California in 1982. I am including a picture of it in my shop in San Marcos in 1985 (this is the condition that I bought it) and then Autorama in 2013. I paid a little over three grand and only wish I bought more of them back in those days. Now I pay more than that for pure junk. 103.jpg 102.jpg Autorama-13 014.jpg V-62-Autorama-13 010.jpg V-62-Autorama-13 009-R.jpg
