Turner classic movies= traditional rides

Moderators feel free to delete this if too OT but I have been watching TCM in my hotel room while my lady gets ready and the rides in the movies are worth the watch...

The red coupe in bye bye birdie was awesome. It's cool to see that the hot rods readily available back in the day to fill a back ground shot are pure gold now...

 

"Don't let them tell you the future is electric, cuz gasoline's not measured in metric" Really? Most of the rest of the world does measure gasoline in liters. Of course they are not "retro" like the U.S.

 

Heck, I watch the Waltons every now and then to drool over the cars and trucks.

One thing I love about old movies is the cars. That and a giant lizrd is the reason I bought "The Giant Gila Monster" (twice)

STarted renting period movies for the same reason.. seems if you like british cars, Killer Elite is a goodun...

 

I'm always watching for the cars in old movies... keeps me interested when the plot doesn't.

Nancy Drew over the last week or so, she drives around in a 37 Ford roadster, I think as it had a rumble seat..

 

Have you seen the 1961 film with Bob Hope called "Bachelor in Paradise?" The paper boy drives a cool hot rod.

 

Old movies have old cars in them. You guys crack me up.
