Hey eveyone, i have always wanted to build a hot rod truck, and what i have to work with is this 1950 willys pickup...i know its not the traditional hot rod, but its what was available on my budget :)
Found her in a field where she had been sitting for the last 25 years...

Started tearing her down to clean up and box in the frame, and get rid of the rust.
    Came with a 1948 flathead V8 :D

Got her all apart now and im gonna start sand blasting and getting ready for primer.

Nice Find! Looks like it's in really great shape! I don't know if I'd customize it too much, those ol' Willys pickups look pretty cool as-is. Would look really cool pulling a trailer with an old gasser or FED!

Thanks! yeah the bed is beat up of course, but the only damage to the cab is a small hole in the back, floor boards need replaced as well. Other than that she is really straight. I've been waivering on if i want to keep it fairly stock and maybe put a sbc 350 in it, and saving the flatty for something with a little more style...

  4. I've always liked those old Willys pickups and wagons and thought one would make a cool and interesting rod.

There used to be one around here... had a volaré front clip on it and rolled low in a yellowish lime color... looked cooler than dog snot!!!

  7. That truck looks remarkably clean. I would like that for some O/T fun, it would be a nice stable mate to my '11 Wrangler.

I think this is a great project, I've always thought one would look better with the top cut off and a Jeepster style windshield grafted in.

I also got one of these, a 55, solid as hell rust wise, but it was an old forestry truck, beat to death on gravel roads, lotsa cracks to repair.

  11. These trucks are as cool as it gets. Been fooling with old Willys for years. Here is my Jeepster. Its a 50 model and my daily driver in Key West.
