I'm putting a 64 t bird back together that I didn't take apart. I need a picture of how the throttle brackets and return springs are mounted. It's a 64 t bird with a 390. thanks

    Here you go:

If you need any parts for it, try www.tbirdparts.com. The Bird Nest has it all.

Also, the throttle kick down spring (#9737) connects to a small bracket that is bolted onto the last driver side intake manifold bolt. It's not in the schematic and hard to miss.

Also, if you are missing the throttle stop bracket (in the schematic it is the 61-64 version #614TS, you won't have full pedal travel, and the kick down won't work. The rubber bumper won't have anything to hit against and the main swivel of the pedal travel will be all screwed up. The #614TS bracket is held on with one bolt, which is a ****** bell housing to block bolt. There is a small hole cast next to the bolt hole and that is where the leg of the #614TS bracket leg sets in. (As shown from picture at Scribe35's link)

I ***ume you're looking for views at the manifold/carburetor vs the firewall Z-bar. Some searching in the VTCI Forum's archives should yield some other pictures or links to pictures.

There is a bracket with two holes, along with a rod/bellcrank that mounts to the top of the intake manifold - this is for the transmission kickdown linkage. The rod/bellcranks mount rearward of the mounting holes. The bellcranks mount outboard, i.e. toward the valve cover. The bellcrank with a large hole/nylon bushing has an arm with a rounded end that should point toward the rear of the engine with a hole in it - there should be a rod that goes from this hole to the transmission kickdown lever on the transmission. The arm with the offset/bend mounts inboard - this has a rounded end and a small hole - this hole is for the longer return spring which connects to a bracket at the base of the carb.

There is a small L-shaped bracket with two holes in it that is used for the transmission kickdown return spring - the larger hole goes through the driver's side rear mounting stud for the carb and is held down by the carb retaining nut, while the transmission kickdown return spring goes in the small hole. The rounded end of the bracket mounts outboard (away from the carb) while the squared/bent up leg rests against the side of the carb. The spring pulls the kickdown arm forward so that the kickdown does not engage until the throttle pedal is mashed to the floor.

A single straight long rod with a trunion on one end goes into the bottom hole in the top ear of the the Z-bar that's bolted to the firewall to the carb's throttle arm. The trunion is mounted to the Z-bar with an E-clip. The rod mounts so that the trunion is on the inboard side of the Z-bar.

There is a short straight rod that works the transmission kickdown - it goes through the hole with a nylon bushing and has a funky-looking spring clip that goes over the threaded end to keep the rod from going through the arm. The other end has a trunion that is held to the Z-bar with a hex nut - it bolts through the top hole of the Z-bar, with the trunion/rod on the outboard side. When you mash the throttle pedal, this rod is pulled back, and the spring clip hits the bellcrank, and in turn pushes the transmission kickdown rod down.

There should be a short spring that hooks over a groove in the trunion for the short rod that mounts in the top hole of the top ear of the Z-bar - the other end goes into a small hole in a bracket that's held in place by the rear intake manifold bolt. This spring pulls the Z-bar forward for the throttle return.

As the previous poster noted, there is also another bracket/stop that is needed for the Z-bar bracket to hit.
