thank´s a lot guys!! really happy to see your kind comments one reason i´m polishing the gearbox is that i want it to look as good as the motor when it´s ready tonight i´m gonna lay on some more filler and sand it down and then take away the "knee-cracker" handbrake lever. i´m gonna set it up with a floor mounted handbrake instead. and one question also! i´m lookin for a good rear axle but i think the ford 9" cost a lot of money... yes they are good but hmm... does a "hopped-up" 12bolt chevy rear work for this car with around 500+ horses? i can´t build it with cool ladderbars cause it wouldn´t be streetlegal in sweden. but i think i´m gonna build it with 4link and coils, what do you think? pictures and ideas about rear-suspension would be nice! built on the original frame. thnx and stay tuned for more
12 bolts are plenty strong. But, like anything else they have their limitations. So, I guess it's all about 3 things. How good a parts will you put into the 12 bolt? How hard/often will you be tossing that 500+ horses at it? How sticky will the rear tires be? Very important factor.
i will not be drivin with slicks! just wide street-tires like you see in the pics! i was thinkin about puttin strange driveshafts in it and c-clip eliminators, and what do you think about a detroit locker? some ideas about that concept?
i can also tell that the paintjob will be pretty cool i think! i´m talking with a famous pinstriper from finland who´s gonna "make it happen" if it goes my way. we´re talking "rough ´n race" look... he is gonna make some sketches, i will show them when he´s ready! i´m REALLY lookin forward to see them... // mathias
thanks man! made this tonight when i had some time over... not finished yet! needs some wetsanding and polishing. it´s for the MSD box gonna put it on the firewall... not so good looking but well it works i think. gonna buy black paint some day to... // M
It's perfect just the way it is. The workmanship is there and speaks louder than polishing ever will.
No name...Just call it bad ***!!! Thats what it looks like its gonna be! Your work is impressive! Keep it up!
look at this... old pics of the previous owner when he cut off the old fenders and made his own... my girlfriend lives there, she´s just amazing! love´s to be at the garage with me and share all my interests her dream car is a customized chevy -54... i will get one of those soon! as u see she likes taking pinup photos, just for fun hehe new pics will arrive next week when i get home from stockholm.
A stock 12 bolt and 9" are not strong enough. I'm not a 12 bolt fan, but if you are going to use it, You better weld the axle tubes to the cast center and have it checked for straightness. The C-clip eliminators is another cost with the 12 bolt and a must. If this car ever hooks up, the ring and pinion offset is NOT that strong. A lot of time and money into a set up that not strong enough for the HP you'll have. 'm NOT a Detroit fan on the street! I'd take an Eaton for your 12 bolt any day over it! If you went with a 9", you'll need a new center section, Auburn posi and with axles than you would be ready for the drag strip, if you ever wanted too. Since you are willing to buy new axles and posi. Find a '57-64 Olds rear end. Olds is a little harder to find but is a good investment and would make the car better in the end, as far as a "BAD *** G***ER". I do understand if you choose to go the 12 bolt way, it's easier to use what you have. Looks great, good luck on your build. Mike
thanks for the info interesting to hear opinions i have thought of the olds axles to but they are HARD to find here in sweden, the axle that´s the less cost is the chevy.¨ anyway.. the axle i find would be rebulid! to be continued... if anyone have any suggestions and thoughts, just say it thanks! // mathias
thanks a lot!! hehe crazy is a good word for us some black "body" was painted at the bottom. the real paint will soon arrive... i have not so much time right now.. =/ better updates will come... // M
the 12 bolt will work if you rebuild it with good stuff like strange gears and mosier(sp)axels...... also put a brace across the rear of the hoghead. It will handle 500 hp....
today i think the gearbox and the "empty" engine will be testfitted to the car... lookin forward to se all the **** together!! to see that you have "done something" always keeps you going in a project like this... keep lookin for new updates!
