Sea Foam

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Mitchell de Moor, May 10, 2012.

  1. I have a 1956 Ford with a 272 Y-Block. The car has been sitting since October. Just firred it up now with some Sea Foam. I noticed this black oil like substance exiting from the drivers side exhaust manifold. At first I thought it could be oil and I was in huge trouble. After texting someone back and forth we thought maybe it was just the gunk in the engine exiting out from the Sea Foam? Could this be? On Saturday morning I will be doing a huge drive with the vehicle so I wanted to make sure everything was in order. Thanks!

It may be exhaust soot that is seeping out of the manifold after being broken down by the solvents in Sea Foam...

About all I am allowed to say is yes it works. I work for a combustion consulting firm they tested it and they said it does what it say's it will do .But collapsed lifters ,broke rings, wore out valve guides will not become better without the machine shop, gum and ethanol need help and this product will do that !

First heard of Sea Foam from my uncle. I thought what kind of **** did he fall for when he bought it. By his insistence I tried it. It works . About once or twice a year my Jeep Wrangler runs rough, so I put Sea Foam in and it smoothes right out. I'm sold.

He's been driving it and I think he's good for his run back down to Toronto tomorrow..

Anyone else heard anything about the effects of using Seafoam?

I just put some Sea Foam in my flathead yesterday. It had a slight miss and a little pop in the exhaust once in awhile. This started right after I took the truck out of winter storage. Took the dual 94's off and took them apart. No dirt or any problems found. New distributor cap, sparkplugs, cleaned and set points and timing. Still no improvement. I was going to check the compresion, thought I may have a sticky valve. What the hell being lazy I decideed to dump in a half a can of Sea Foam first. Cost me $6.99. I sware I drove less than 2 miles and the problem was gone. Must have had a sticky valve.

put it in your gas tank at fill up or pour it down the carb while the engine is running.

Good stuff...My BMW motorcycle ran horrible after a fill up. Stopped at NAPA store, bought a can. added to fuel and 200 yds. down the road my bike smoothed right out. Have since used it in small engines and cars. Never fails to improve the wife's complaint of "The car is running kinda' funny!"

Use it in the fuel tank, crankcase and ******.. it's also good with Dr Pepper and lime (okay I lied about that part) Good stuff. I keep a couple cans in the shop for tune ups.

Been using it for many years. It works great. I have friends that I had told about it over the years and they all use it. I have found that it works great for freeing up sticky parts.

I like MMO for the crankcase, Sea Foam for the gas tank. But that's just me. I haven't found anything that cleans sludge out of hydraulic lifters like MMO.

So if I thought I had a sticky valve - pour some in the tank?

  24. I buy the stuff by the case, use it in my Motorhome boats ATVs...everything. Sometimes my fuel will sit for months and if treated, just like new.

I will use it once in a while but mostly use MMO & blue sta-bil with every tank of fuel. keeps the engines running smooth & great for long periods of non use.

  28. Well ****, this is the first time I've heard of Sea Form. I'm going to pick up a can today and give it a try in my ticky tick 216.

i sold sea foam for yrs and never used it. but we have a thing down here called ctc. smells like thinner but the guy who devolped this stuff says its not. you pit this stuff in any thing. it will help a slipping trans and if it leaks it will stop that too. put in the gas tank and you can smell it in the exhaust, and the damn engine will clear up if its got a gas flow problem pour it slowly down the carbs and **** they are clean again.i swear by this suff and i dont believe in the mechanic in a can either..lol you can put this suff in p.s. trans carb, gas tank.i had a front seal leakin pretty good on a sbc, pour this stuff in the oil and no more leak!!
