I purchased these today at the LA Roadsters show, but i dont know what they are. They are magnesium, are two pieces, measure 16x12 with a 5x5.5 bolt pattern. I cant find any casting or marking numbers, and a search online got me no where. Has anybody ever come acrossed these before, or even seen anything like them?

They're not related to the Pontiac 8 lug wheels, they're something totally different. It looks to me like the outer part of the wheel is designed to bolt onto a wide 5 pattern like on a dirt track roadster, and the center sections are adapters to fit them on conventional axles.

It's a true two piece wheel, so without the center section it wouldnt have an inside bead to mount a tire on. It also only has five bolts that hold it together, so its not related to the pontiacs, that would be too easy.

These are so sweet I hope someone can identify them. I bet the guy who sells Magnesium wheels on ebay would know. He always has 5-6 sets for sale.

  7. I remember a while ago someone suggested airstream caravan wheels were two piece.

  8. I can see the advantage ... buy the outer half as universal and the inner plate to suit your lug pattern .... sorta looks like something from the dirt track in the 60's ... but the inner vanes would collect mud so I doubt it.

I was at a small town show last weekend and saw a set of these wheels too. I was going to post up to see if anyone had an idea of what they were. Very odd wheels.

Thanks for all the input, it seems that they are Safety Racing Equipment wheels. If so, im assuming they arent really meant to have slicks on them, but screw it, they look too cool.
