97* Outside today, and warmer in my shop, but had a great day anyway. My Grandson helped me get my 283 and two speed PowerGlide mocked up in my '26 Model T...Lot of sweat (literally) but with my new cylinder on the engine hoist went well... Was not able to mount the engine high like I wanted to, due to the Model A cross member location, and I don't want to mess with relocating it.........so got it all in place as it looks...I will be putting a tunnel ram with 2-4's on it so it will still set the top up a bit.... Everything really is fitting up nice....Now will make some motor and trans mounts, cut a drive shaft, then remove all to finish up brakes, fuel lines, etc.......Put the body back on to see how it looks...and I like it a lot... Here are a few pictures... Cheers, Bob..
you can make motor mounts and cut a drive-shaft but putting a deeper notch in the cross member so you can put the drive-train were you want it isn't doable? It's not so put together yet that itd be a giant pain in the *** to do it, just put it were you want it to be the first go round.
sorry don't want to come off all negative, its looking good and progress while raining sweat is always a tough haul. just figured why bust your *** to end up with a compromise.
No problem Tim, I had intended to try to mount the engine about 10" higher...yep way up...like some early drag cars where they did that to get more weight on the back wheels....but it was for looks only, as I liked that look... I would have needed to cut the cross member off, and re do that whole area, and I didn't really want to do that. Also in a previous post I made wanting pictures of engines sitting high many pointed out the floor hump problem. I am 6'5" and pushing 350 lbs, (68 years old) and had not thought about that....this way I will get a real flat floor as a bonus...Also why I went with a Coupester instead of a Roadster.... This is just a low buck cruiser with a little at***ude so I will be just fine with it...Also nothing is in stone yet.... Appreciate your comments though, and no offense taken at all... Cheers, Bob
Love the coupester Bob. Good on you for working today- it was hotter than the devil. Tomorrow doesn't look too much better.
