Subscribing to this thread, hope you don't mind! You're progressing a Helluva lot quicker than I am on my '53 210 moredoor. Looking great, and congrats on the win! Shoot me a PM if you're ever looking for parts. I've been hoarding anything I find for the past 3 months, LOL. Can't wait to see the finished car!
Thanks and it was nice to see it away from the garage for once hha thanks bud let me know i can hook u up i have a buddy that has a 54 belair everything is there ready for some patch panels and body work. Thanks bud! and na i dont mind lol i know the biggest thing im looking for is the grill bar where the teeth bolt to
You got a rare one. That is an early production 150.By mid yEar the 53 110 had went to the regular size rear window and never went back for the 54
Maaaaaan, you and me BOTH! Lol I'm kicking around dredging up a custom grille though, and if I can produce one that looks decent on my 210 you can have my center bar. I grabbed a bunch of '52 Mercury teeth last week, but no ideas so far. I also know where I can snag a moderately tweaked '52 grille out at a local salvage yard, so sooner or later I should be able to toss all my spare parts into a pile, stir them up, and pull out a grille.
haha damn! yeah i found 2 really good shape ones at the Sacramento Swap meet a few months back and they were HIGH OF THERE ASS what they were asking for them im tempted to see how a 54 grill bar would look on it im not sure how close they are but its worth a go if i cant get my hands on a 53 bar let me know how u make out i want pictures to haha
oh yeah im still tryin to figure out the whole story behind this car all i got is its a 150 and the black is the original color when i got the car the first 3 weeks i never notice the rear windshield then i knew something was odd about it and i looked it up and found it was a 150
Here's my build thread. It's been a slow-going three months, with a new set of problems popping up as quickly as I could lay the previous set to rest. The car hadn't seen any road-time since 86, and 26 years of sitting is rough on any car. My last big stumbling block was hemmed up this morning when I got the new poly fuel cell strapped in and plumbed up in the trunk. (My fuel gauge even works now that I cleaned it up and freed it from its stuck position at 1/3 tank...) I actually drove her home this afternoon and pulled her into her spot in my driveway. The little '53 more-door has a HOME for the first time in 26 years. I think she'll like it here... My wife is a professional photographer, so yes, there are a metric shit-ton of pics coming to my thread soon. I think I had it home all of about five minutes and she was crawling on the ground, standing on the trunk lid of my Saab, shooting from across the street... Surprised she didn't ask me to get out the "Little Giant" stepladder. Oy. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=683622
Nah, they're easy to tell apart. YOURS is the one with a big honkin' trophy on the hood, and mine has... bird shit on the hood. Nice job on the win!
Mine is actually pretty solid. I'm going to need to do a little work on the front floor pans, mostly the passenger side, before I put in the new deadener/carpet, and while I was installing the fuel cell in the trunk this morning I came across a few small spots where the tin has gotten a little thin, but overall it's solid as hell. I was quite surprised. The rockers are solid as the day they were new, and the floors beneath the back seat are solid as well. The only spot of rot anywhere in the exterior body metal is on the driver side rear quarter just behind the wheel well. It's a hole about the size of a quarter with some thin steel around it. Of course, I'm going to need to do a little work on that lip just inside the trunk. I guess the weatherstrip has been leaking for quite a while, and its just been pooling water and sitting. Ate that whole gully pretty much away. I'm thinking about forming a new gutter with some sheet metal by wrapping it around a broomstick and knocking it into shape with a slapper. Sometimes I wonder if it might be less hassle to do an entire floor than to try to patch crap like I've got, hoping I get it all the first time.
oh damn ur lucky. i had to replace all 4 floor pans and the trunk well it was all getting cut out anyway i gotta do a driver side rocker and gotta do the spots where the gravel shields bolt to and the rear quarters and that panel under the truck lid not to bad i guess lol i have alot of body work to do tho
i couldnt bring my self to spend close to 500bucks on replacement floor pans everything here cost me 65bucks and some labor
Im in the middle of the same project. I would like to make my own rear floor boards myself, but hardtops have this extra brace/seat bottom for support that I have to contend with. What gauge metal are you using?
thank you Sir! thanks! he already claims its his car haha and i got very lucky with this on nice start on yours. im using 18 gauge
Damn! You're not fooling around, are ya! Awesome work. Man, I wish I had a thimble-ful of the talent in this joint...
Good job, its great to see someone using what they have ( can afford ) and creating a quality job. good for you! Now you have $440 to spend somewhere else. Godspeed MrC.
the hardest thing lately is waiting for UPS to show up with my BIG box... i should of just drove to Alexs shop and pick up my tail dragger kit from him
DAVEO! How's it coming bro? Lots more you could do while waiting for UPS... That's why God made beer. If you come across a spare passenger side spindle, keep me in mind, huh? Bad things, bro. Baaaaaad things...
oh im keeping my self busy on other people stuff painting a harley for a guy right now and yes thank god for beer treated my self to a 12pack of PBR last night haha...ill check my parts car here really soon to see if theres a spindle on it i know its missing one lol hopefully its not the one u need lol any thing els u need make a list ill see whats on it still
