Anyone do it? Have a stockish 50 Fleetline, and the 235 is tired. Thinking of doing a SBC and a TCI leaf spring 8.5 rear end. Was going to do a WC T5 but I know they are marginal with a mild motor (going to do a 383). Leaving the stock front suspension and steering column, will the T56 fit? What kind of problems will I run into? I know the T56 is larger, I am going to start collecting parts so I can start on this project this winter, any help would be great! (Hitting a pretty big swap meet this sunday at Back to the fifties)

T56 is very tall, you will have to cut out the trans tunnel and rebuilt it taller. Both LT1 and LS1 T56 transmissions can be adapted to a conventional SB. Two piece rear main engines normally will use an adapter bellhousing and the LS1 style trans with a conventional clutch, with the one piece rear main engine you can use the factory LT1 bellhousing, clutch, trans, and hydraulics.
