Hood ornament?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by 26Tudor, Jun 20, 2012.

  1. A friend of mine asked me to post this and see if anyone on here happened to know (1) If this really is a radiator cap ornament, ala a Motometer, or winged lady, or (2) just a piece of art from back when... If it is, in fact, a radiator/hood ornament, what type of car is it off of? I know it's a bit on the gaudy side for a real hot rod, but I think it's kinda cool....

  3. I am pretty sure it's br***, and it is about 7-1/2 inches long.

It's called the "diving ****" and it is a radiator ornament from the late teens.

It's along the same lines as the cl***ic late 20's early 30's Luxury cars but lacks the detail,,may be a knock off aftermarket hood ornament or maybe part of a trophy. HRP

Definitely an aftermarket accessory item. No particular make of car used it.

  8. Badshifter, that sure looks like the one, but I can't read the print below the photo....can you PM me and let me know how and where (besides worthepedia) you found that photo? When I enlarge it here, the print becomes unreadable.
Thanks for all the help so far, gents, The HAMB rules !!!

Looks like an accesory radiator cap. Looks nice! I have a mint 1926 T- winged motometer off my 26 T just laying around in the living room collecting dust, along with an original 1933 Chevy Master Eagle cap and eagle on top.
Have no idea what they are worth. The Eagle can be bought as a replica but this is an original I bought in E. St Louis, Illinois back in 1964. Sold both cars.

  14. Thanks, all, I'll be p***ing this info along to my friend.
It's a bit too gaudy for my 26 T, I have a set of the swept back wings on it, and that's enough, but if he decides to sell it, I'll come back to this thread, and let everyone know...and rainhater1, I kinda don't think he's gonna go for the fiver....
