Hello, I have what I believe to be a 34 chevy steering wheel. Ive found some pic.s of one,it looks just like it. Where it mounts on the shaft there is a key way. Would I have to get a mid thirties chevy column for me to be able to use it? I like the old school look (no tilt columns).Would one of the straight universal setups(like on ebay) work? Make one maybe? Thank You Ben

It should have splines as well as a key way, the splines should be the same as later wheels.

It doesnt seem to be splined and its tapered, large at the bottom smaller on the upper side. Its smooth on the inside, just the key way to hold it.

I guess 35 or 6 was the first year for splines then.
Do have a pic of the wheel?

A tapered shaft with a key way sure sounds like an early to me.
