Dude, Oprah drives a Prius and wouldn't be into hot rods! Anyway, Escondido is just a little up the highway, but go see Randy and Peaches Clark at www.hotrodscustomstuff.com. REALLY nice people, they do great work, have a retail shop, and you can see Tom Medley's '40 Coupe under reconstruction!
mexican food. if you like beer, check out some of the great microbreweries down there. ballast point brewing and mission brewery are always a great stop. San Diego automotive museum is fun, but the air and space museum next door is even more fun. The J.A. Cooley museum has some neat cars, but mostly pre-ww1. There is also the museum at MCRD.
If you want to venture out of sd for the day and drive to Pomona, the Wally parks museum is kick ***! I met Aaron kahan an Vern Hammond of the Burbank choppers there like 6 years ago! It was awesome.
The Hotel Del is the largest wooden structure west of the Mississippi. When it originally opened, it's electric lights were actually switched on by Thomas Edison! The movie "Some Like it Hot" with Marilyn Monroe was filmed on the beach right there, and the book "The Wizard of Oz" was written there, too! Lot's of stuff to see! Enjoy
El Indio looks good... Saw a chopped 50/51 chevy, red parked on 5th . I'll post picks later.. Thanks guys..,
My In laws live in Poway just up the road and there is a chicken pot pie place there that has a cruise in night for hot rods, I think it's wed or thurs eve. If you google chicken pot pie car show in Poway,Ca. it'll pop up I believe. They go into putting the pot pies down etc. ( It's a chicken pot pie for Christs sake how much of a review can you do?) Anyway been there several times and had a good time. Nice people. Sad part is I'm starting to remember the cars from my last visit from Vegas.lol. Worth seeing if you want to see some of the local talent. YRUHOT.........Doug
El Cajon cruise night every Wednesday, just 10 or 15 miles out I8. Google for details, I don't remember enough.
