So me and marc went to Kentucky to look at a 64 chebby wagon that had turned out to be a bondo wagon. So the whole trip out i was searching craigs list and found a slew of cars. One of them being a 59 chevy bel-air in clayton Indiana. We went to go look at it and marc picked it up. heading back we hit a few other places and we stopped at a Mac-Donalds for some chow. We eat and walk outside to find this old hippie lookin doode lookin at the 59 on the trailer. We started shootin the shit, and he said he had one sittin in his backyard the he had to move or sell fast. The township was gonna bulldoze his house and scrap his car. so we followed him to his place. And sure as hell a 59 chevy that has been sitting for 15 years in the grass under a tarp. we uncovered it settled on a price and i went and got a uhaul and trailer to drag it back. (the uhaul btw cost more than the 59). so heres some pictures of the trip and the build so far.... enjoy.
the first 59 is my buddy marcs. and the yard with all the cool. is a pontiac junkyard in muncie indiana. and an old ford pickup we fount in a goodwill store.
Here's how we found the car under a tarp. took like 20 minutes just to get it all the way off. and after we pulled the car out there was a big moma possum with 7 babies on her back.
here are some pictures of us headin back east with a stop at walmart for some red ryder bb guns and walkie talkies to entertain ourselves. as well as a stop a a giant fireworks store.. and we found this place called Hillard's auto sales in donnelsville ohio with alotta old pontiacs for sale. the black and white 60 more door was a turn key car for 2500.
so here are some pics of it at my shop cleaned it all out and gettin straight to work the floors gotta be patched had to replace the crushed drivers side quarter fix the rear driver side wheel opening and a little bit of the rocker as well as replace the headligh openings. the 283 and glide we got running just about immediately. tryin to get it ready for the road in three weeks.
Looks good and makin fast progress. The two door c-dans look great. I have lots of 59 stuff so let me know if you need anything.
Wow, you are really rolling on that '59! I always liked them and would like to find another. Here is one I had back in the '60's. It was an Impala. I put a 348 with a 3-speed in it. What you are seeing is the result of losing a wheel. A jealous friend of my then girlfriend loosened up the lug nuts. Last I knew, the car was sitting with the weeds and blackberries. The whole floorpan was gone. That was almost 20 years ago. Probably not much left now. Sad. Lost my virginity in that car, lol. Good luck with your car. It's looking good. Tom
