What brand are the rears those match real nice with the ribbed dirt trackers and are those both 4" wheels?

All old design tires **** from a performance perspective, so run the one with style and good looks--the Firestone.

I would bet Steve made his decision on the tires at least 4 years ago.

I'd recommend the same brand / style on both ends, either all Stones or all Excelsiors. Certainly not all tractor tires. Mixing tread styles, radials, bias, brands, compounds, etc. isn't a real red hot idea. Gary

...you're asking a guy that was banned a question, on a thread that is 5 years old...you're gonna have to talk LOUDER if you want him to hear you.

It's an ancient thread that someone brought back up after it was dead five and a half years but does anyone who actually runs the ribbed tires and dirt track rears have some real feedback on how they actually do on the highway on serious road trips? Looking cool is one thing and handling doesn't matter much if it is a poser car for which a 25 mile road trip is a "long distance" but how do they work when you throw your duffel bag in the back and do a 3000 mile one way road trip to the roadster show or a 1500 mile blast to Roundup across the SW desert?

I "displayed" my front track tires 60mph on a 500 mile round trip last summer. Went smooth a silk but they wear out faster that regular Firestone plytires. Unfortunatly the only good looking plys are 6.00 or bigger. The 525/550s have ugly shoulders with some strange grooves in them.

Generally, I buy tires rated at least one level above what I think my car's steady state cruising speed will be. That's the all day long, 8 hours a day, interstate speed +1 level. I'll spring for two levels higher if I can afford it just to be safe, as those high speed tires are really built well. Gary
