I am running factory wiring in my 54 Chrysler Newyorker and switched from the stock tail lights that had seperate wires for stop,turn and tail light to a LED cateye tail light from Speedway that combines the stop and turn wires. The turn/stop and tail light functions work fine until I step on the brake, it freezes (light stays on but doesnt blink) the front stock turn signal. After I release the brake everything goes back to normal. Any ideas on how to cure the problem with the front turn signal?
Yeah, replace the rear brake/turn lights with separate lights. It's backfeeding the brake lights thru the turn signal switch wiring. You only have 3 wires on the turn signal switch, don't you? You need at least 6 wires to use combined turn/stop bulbs in back.

I guess you're going to have to figure out how the switch works, and how the car is wired. Or else just get one of the trailer adapter things, and see if that fixes it.
I have a 54 NY deluxe. The flasher is a 3 wire unit, so one goes to the ignition switch power, (x), the (L) goes to the front and rear lamps through one pole of the turn signal switch, and the middle (P) is sent to the other pole of the turn signal switch which powers the turn indicators. 6 wires total. Re-wire the rear lamps as follows using a trailer converter box: Red or stop wire from converter box goes to the stop light switch Green goes to the front right turn signal Yellow goes to the front left turn signal Brown - not needed, for tailights only White wire goes to ch***is ground. Note: The converter squirrel mentioned will work for negative ground systems 6 or 12 Volt), sorry but 54 Chrysler is positive ground. So you may have to switch to neg ground for it to work. BTW: I work for Hopkins and on the trailer light converter boxes. Another approach is to use a couple of relays and some diodes, which will have one for the right rear, the other for left rear. I will try and provide a diagram for you.
