Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by 55 dude, Jun 21, 2012.

  1. guys i pulled my dead 78' 350 and 78' turbo 350 and am installing new motor and discovered the turbo 350 wil not bolt up because torque converter will not engage in end of crankshaft of the 93' 350 i have, is their a different 350 turbo converter that i need to obtain to get my 51' nash rolling again? thanks guys:D

I haven't heard of that, they should be the same. Might do some measuring and close inspection, see if something is dinged or out of tolerance. Is there a pilot bushing in the new engine?

  3. actually had a dumbass moment torque converter wasn't engaged all the way, TOO MUCH HELP! thanks guys!

  4. Make sure you use the 93 flexplate as it is balanced differently.

fortunately the bolt pattern is also completely different, so it's hard to mix them up.

Good to see you got it figured out and let us know what happened.

It might. If you aren't sure, you can measure the bolt circle first. But my guess is that it'll bolt right on, unless the engine came from a truck with a 4L80E. So measure.
