So I finally scored a big f-series gauge cluster for my f100. For the ones that dont know..the bigger trucks had all true working gauges. The smaller trucks had "warning lights" "dummy lights" or "idiot lights. Well I scored a complete cluster. Has a tachometer and air pressure. What would I hook the air pressure up to? Also what cable and distributor will I have to use? By the way the motor is a 292 y block and trans Is a dordomatic.

I have one of these as well. The donor truck had a YBlock Lincoln in it. I pulled the distributor and the cable. I'm hoping some more posts come up on this. I don't have the air pressure either. Thought about having a gauge builder make me a clock for the other side.

That is out of a f700 or larger, with either a Ford or Lincoln Y with a governer.

Your 292 will turn more than 4 grand, If it were me I would find a cool looking electric tach, and replace the mechanical tach in that hole.

If you ever mounted a vac*** or electric compressor and tank for air shocks/bags, or air horns you could use the air gauge.

You 2 bought these off eBay, huh...

Let me tell you what you need. Did you know ford made tractors? You need a 6 cylinder 215 tractor distributor with a tach drive on the back. It may not be totally accurate, but in the end if you wanted accuracy you would have gone with Dakota digital or a column clamp tack. At least the needle will move.

I am wondering, about another truck that I know of. It had a Ford Yblock with a tach. Problem with the Ford gauges are their size. I believe any other gauges would be too small to fill the hole. I also had a 63 with the same Tach and a va*** gauge. I found a deluxe 60 Dash that someone had hacked through the star to install a Stewart Warner oil pressure gauge. I figured I'd save it by installing the Ford Tach. I imagine for a healthy fee, a gauge builder could build the Ford Tach to be accurate, and be electric instead of mechanical. My dash came outof an old Cab over, that the County s****ped out. I got there before the crusher.

Since it has a air pressure gauge its time to install air bags on the suspension.

As mentioned, your complete dash is very rare and worth big bucks to one of the "Big Job"
restorers. If you are going to use it, leave it as is; it will only appreciate in value!
Unless you intend on racing, the 4k tach will certainly be adequate. SW cables and drives
are available on E-Bay, some have been NOS. (As for the air gauge, you would not use
"half" of it for a light-duty bag suspension system.)

You just need to find a tach drive dizzy and cable. They are on ebay once in awhile. And 4 grand will be fine for your steet car. BTW that tach will probably overspin to 5000 maybe evevn 6. so be realistic with what engine you have. Stay away from the TBird tach drive its too pricey. You might be able to find an old mallory tach drive with duel points also seen them on ebay and sold one there myself, once.
