Hey guys Im looking for some input. I am building a 29 roadster on 32 rails and was thinking of putting a corvair box on it. My concern is i've heard they are no good with a heavy engine ( I'm running a 331 hemi short bell) is this just the aluminum ones? What about the steel ones from flaming river? Or any ideas on another setup I don't want to run a vega, as it was a pain in the *** on my sedan with the hemi. Any picture would help. Thanks Terry
Corvair boxes have steered plenty of bucket Ts with engines from pinto 4 cyls to 392 Hemis and 454 Chevys and 427 Fords. I think it will handle your early Hemi too. I'd go with the steel boxes though.
Don't deal with Flaming River.....their service department is horrible. I used Borgeson with much better results....Vega box has worked fine for me
I found this one from a vendor in Atascadero, CA. It is a rebuilt (completely and with great quality products) for a '50 Hudson. It worked in a '32 Chevy four door and the cramp angle is '47 degrees with 1 1/2 turns on a 15 inch steering wheel to full turns too. The quality is excellent in my opinion plus it fit great! Normbc9
