It is Thom taylor's fault. In the new R & C, he has a article about late 30's ford sedans as rods.-CHECK IT oUT! His renderings inspired my idea. I ain't got the money to build it---SOOOO--I thought I'd give the HAMBERS my project idea. Specs: 1940 ford sedan (channeled-removed top) -stock wheels, w/ rear www tire -'39 Ford grille -kustom, flared carb. "pipes" -Olds rocket motor (painted green/ matching drums) -DuVall windshield - (don't know name) WWII head lamps -tappered & flared fender -soft tonneau -pewter/metallic paint -rivets along body Intended look: Sinister, unique, evil-styled, dark & industrial
I think the lights are E&J or something like it. OH yea sinister, and utilitarian(sp?), just the way I like 'em.
I got LAID-OFF from my job--That's way I am broke! But It is the best thing ever---I get to sit @ the coffee house, draw hotrods, listen to great music, drool cover the cute gal that serves me, AND then do it all over again the next day! Sorry, I didn't save this for the art show...But I was stoked about my drawin & wanted someone here to get some ideas or inspiration from it. Is Thom Taylor on this board---YES or NO? I don't want to know his hamb name for privacy sake.
yah, look up framedragger here on the hamb.. he is repoping E&J lights IMO - it will look like a rolling tub for sure, perhaps put a hood on then add a hardtop... might look like something that came off the lakes if done right. forgot to add, the concept art is great.
I saw that article. and was remembering all the posts on here awhile back from people lamenting about the cars they are finding buried in the mud and how the bottoms will be all rotted away. Well here are some ideas for you from a master artist. Just check out the new Rod and Custom for the details
I'm getting close to finishing a '40 pontiac coupe for a friend of mine, he insists on not running any fenders or hood, at first I thought it was a bad idea because I like the long low look, but it looks bad ***. Gary
Wha I like about Thom taylor's "rottin-bottom-half" prooject article is that it utilizes rotting while sparing the solid good rust-free tin. We can't have all the cool cars chopped up!
The 37 ford im building is one of those cars that the bottom of the body was all gone. I put it back together with out buying any patch panels.
Neat expansion on Mr. Taylor's drawings. They have my mind a whirring as well. Think my dad found a sedan body to use already.
