Don't you hate bad pics in cl***ifieds to sell cars? I was looking thru Craigslist and this guy has a few cars for sale. Car looks like it can move around the yard. The pic is taken half in the sun half in the shade. Good quality pic otherwise. Some people take pics in the dark or out of focus and wonder why people don't call. Here is a link to the CL ad http://allentown.craigslist.org/cto/3086562013.html
I don't want the car just window shopping, too many projects as it is. Was more of a comment as to people taking bad pics. Is it to hide somethimg or that they just don't know any better. I think that with this guy it is to hide, as he has more cars and the pics are just the same. Kind of like taking pics in a garage without turning on the lights.
I guess it`s better than no pics. Kinda teaser like pics...makes you wonder and hafta go check it out.
Well, its not hiding much, you can clearly see major rot all down the p***. side of the car. Look at the door, and the 1/4 just behind the door.
I know what you mean. I saw an ad for a '49 Chevy business coupe. Car was flat black with the side view in the shade. I thought about driving out to look at it, but didn't. Then I saw the car at a car show. The lower half of the car, that was obscure by shade, was totally rotted. Man, I glad I didn't waste my gas money.
there is nothing wrong with those pictures. where I come from you call first, ask questions then go look. you don't just buy the car based on the pics in the ad.
Worse yet is NO pics... Especially for higher coin cars. Like, asking 75k and you can't even post a single picture of the thing?
Bad pictures don't let you see the bad parts of the car, so you get to drive over and look at it and be disappointed. If it's an internet sale, then there is no inspection....since quite a few people are optimists, you can use lousy pictures to sell junk at a good price.
Bd pics hide bad cars. But @ the price I would at least ask him for better pics or make a date to see it.
I hate the Craiglist Flakes that post a picture of a fender or 1/4 panel and nothing showing the whole car. Or the damned "sideways" pictures! LOL
If your selling a car you better have decent pics of the thing. I notice too on Craigslist these half ***ed pics of part of a hood a left tire, half a window. WTF, why bother trying to sell it at all. You need to see what it is correctly. I am not going to waste my time driving over there. If you want to sell then do it right!
Absolutely correct. I have seen pictures of a sofa for sale on CL where they had magazines and popcorn all over the seats and didn't even take the time to clean those off before shooting the picture ! Cars are the same way, I have gone to look at some where the entire interior and trunk were full of garbage. How they expect to sell something without having look presentable is a mystery. Don
Complaining about an ad for a car that you have no intention of buying? So if he had a professional photoshoot done with a gorgeous model you still wouldn't buy it so he saved himself a fortune.
The sun is shining, it's warm outside and this is what you have to complain about? Go see it if you're interested,go outside and play if you aren't. Sorry I even opened this.
You guys trip me out. Remember before c-list when the best thing out there was auto trader and is was a one inch black and white photo with like 50 characters to describe it. You HAD to call the guy cause you couldnt just e-mail him. With the phone call you decide if it was worth looking at or not. It was a gamble and an adventure. That fun is all gone now. I hate when people e-mail me and ask for more photos when they live ten minutes from me. I usually take only one bad photo or none at all. It separates the men from the boys. See the men show up with cash in their pocket and a trailer at least near by. Men dont talk you down in price unless their buying and they do it to your face. when the first thing they ask for is more pics or whats the best youll take i dont even reply. People dont want to waste their time driveing but i dont want to waste my time sending pics to 20 people who arnt serious and just want to lowball to feed their ego. Mean while wondering how people get all the good deals, they just make the phone call and go.
I sold a slightly OT project last year on CL. I posted some pics of the car in the driveway, then offered anyone who contacted me the pics that showed the very worst of the car. Told them if they were still interested after looking at all the pics, they wouldn't be disappointed looking at it in person.
Looks like a deal to me, but then again it is a full sized postwar Ford, maybe that's all it's worth. Either way, if it runs and moves and the doors aren't all jammed up it's probably not bad for a real convertible, I doubt parts for it are going to be tough to come by.
Actually I wasn't complaining about that ad. It was just a general observation. Kind of a rant of the day. Yes if I was interested in the car it is only about 40 miles from me, I would be there in 40 minutes. The car has been advertised a few times in the last month, as well as a Ranchero that is prob from the same guy, same area same kind of pics. So I would think that it is over priced or the right guy hasn't seen it yet.I am not the right guy, Look at my name. lol
Yall are spoiled........... I never saw a picture of a car for sale. You called, if you liked what the seller said, or it was somthing you were looking for, you got off your dead ***, jumped in the car and went and looked at it. I've looked at some junk and been knocked off my feet, as in you only want that for ............... was bored and we used to look in a cl***ified book called the yellow book. Went to look at a kit car, mid engine corvair, figured it to be a pos b***ed on price, $150 or $200 if I remember right. He pushed the garage door open and I stood looking , jaw droped, at a nose styled after a maco shark stingray. Couldn't get the cash out of my pocket fast enough. Engine was stuck, had been sitting for several years, marvel mystry oil in cyl's and had it running the same night. 140 hp corvair, mid engine, fibergl*** valkirie body, with a custom nose. Crown was supposedly envolved, with some proto type adaptors with this guy back in Arizona. So get out from in front of the computer and go look for yourself..................
Those are ****ty pics, but it follows my line of reasoning.... Most people can't do anything right. Clearly this includes taking pictures. If I wasn't moving to Denver in a month I'd buy that car.
the only reason to complain about it is if your like me and want a 61 ford VERY badly but dont have the grand laying around to buy it with
