This has got us all baffled. I have been driving my 64 Fairlane for 13 yrs. And never had a problem. The car sat for 5 yrs..Got married had kids etc etc. Well I decided to get the car out and go over it....Replaced brakes, wheel cylinders, and drums....Years ago I put a duel mastercylinder on it.....I bleed the brakes and WHEN YOU OPEN THE FRONT BLEEDS the pedal doesn't move and fluid just trickles out, When you do the back the pedal goes right to the floor.....I said screw it and boight a brand new master cylinder .....Not a remanufactured one...Put it in and IT DOES THE SAME THING...I drove it and the back brakes are stopping before the front? I tryed everything.. Last I drained the mastercylinder rear bowl and bleed the front brakes first....Then i filled the rear bowl and bleed the back....Pedal feels ALOT BETTER, But the pedal still doesnt go to the floor when you bleed the front, just in the back...IF ANYONE HAS ANY INFO.....I WOULD REALLY APPRECIATE IT. THANKS Jeff

Have you replaced the hoses to the wheel cylinders??? They can go bad inside.

I had the exact same problem on my 67' chevy. It baffled me. I started to break the fittings loose on the front brake lines. Started at the master, good flow. Loosened the line just before the rubber hoses and got good flow there as well. last I loosened the hose to wheel cylinder and got nothing. The freakin hoses were plugged up and no brake fluid would p*** through. Makes me wonder how long I've been driving around like that.

Do you have the front and rear lines mixed up ? The front bowl doesn't always go to the front brakes.

Sounds like the 5 yrs. of sitting let the hoses deteriorate. Cars actually like to be driven.:) Let us know, but sounds like new hoses will solve your problem.

Nope, lines are not crossed. I just ordered new hoses...It did the same thing with the old mastercylinder as with the new one...I changed it just to be safe....The only thing thats not new are the hoses....The distribution block for the front doesn't have any checks, just a block...Thanks for the info Fellas...I will let ya know.....

I would replace the wheel cylinders and rubber hose, and adjust the brake if adjustable.

your rubber hoses are probably collapsed internally, mid 70's chevy trucks had this issue. here is quick check pump u system and crack fitting where steel line meets rubber one and see what happens and i bet pedal drops. good luck.

Well fellas, I replaced the hoses....Still have a very hard pedal. Also the back was locking up before the front.....There was my father, myself and 2 buddies messing with it.....Still no conclusion. AGAINST my beliefs, I TOOK IT TO A SHOP A OLE TIMER HAS DOWN THE ROAD. He took a look at it and said leave it here....2 hrs. Later he said come get your car ....I went and picked it up, asked what it was? He started from scratch, adjusted everything off the original specs from a FAIRLANE MANUAL he still owned....and bleed them.....I asked him how much I owe him ....HE SAID NO CHARGE, and refused to take anything...He said I love working on the Oldies... Man I love fellow gearheads...
