I guess it might be a little difficult to come up with a complete original 3-speed od for my 64 Ford so I am wondering if anyone has put a late model od behind a 223 6 cylinder like a 4 or 5 speed. 64 is the last year for this motor in cars so I don't know if I can find a wide bolt pattern bell housing. Any suggestions or ideas? Thanks! Tom - restorit
Is it true that the early V8s ( 260 ) are the same bolt patern as the L6? If so, I might have a Bellhousing with a Adaptor that could work for you...
I'm sure there's some HAMBers around that have a spare 3spd trans & bellhousing. If you need a stock pressure plate, I have a brand new one.
I have a 49 o/d ****** and a 67 T-85N o/d ******. You could buy either one for a buck fifty if you come get it. Not hard to find, you just have to look.
Most later model trans have the dual bolt pattern...I've got two late model truck O/D trans that have the dual pattern...should just be a case of cuttin' a hole in the floor and doin' some driveshaft work.
Thanks for the replies. I didn't think about some of the newer 4 & 5 Speeds having dual bolt patterns. From the link, it looks like I could modify my bell housing too or buy an adapter. I think I will search my favorite junk yard for a trans. Tom
