swapping a 2 speed to a C4 behind an I6 200 in a Falcon. the block is '68 or '69. i found someone that has C4 transmissions from '64 '65 '66 mustangs with I6 200. Will any of these transmissions bolt up to the 68-69 block? is the flywheel and starter the same or will i need to change them?
All of the Ford Small Block sixes (144, 170, and 200 up to 1977) have the same bellhousing pattern, so you are good to go. You need to use the C4 flex-plate and Torque converter as well.
The 144-170 and early 200's are all the same, they did change the upper 2 bolts on the 67 and later I think 200's, all bolts up, other than the top 2 bolts, seen guys make spacers to fit....75 Comet is right, 144-170 & 200's use the Mid-starter location, and 240-250-300 use the low starter, just like a V8....
the 250 shares the small v8 pattern, and the later 200 shares most of the pattern, but in general, you'll need a v8 bellhousing and torque convertor to use the standard small-block c4 with a 200 motor. there are some minor mods that need to be made to the bell (holes to drill), but those are pretty straightforward. you might need to swap starters too.
To make this less confusing, he was asking about 64-6 Mustang 200 C4 to 68-69 200 block, so he'll be fine. None of the V8 stuff, (or 250) is relevant to his question.
right, in that case it'll work great. i was addressing the original question and some of the non-sequitur responses that followed.
