Does anyone else have a weekly local Sonic Cruise In. There are a few different Sonic drive in's in our area that have a weekly get together different nights of the week. We were talking about it last night, and the question came up about different ones across the country. Anybody else?

Here's a few pics from monday evening. Post pics if you have them.

We used to, but not lately. I guess everyone is getting old.

But I do have an old sonic menu unit in my shop.

I've seen some cars out and about...2 Sonics within 20 miles...but the people at them don't seem too keen on the idea. My only complaint about Sonic...while the food is ok...they sure think alot of that stuff to ask the prices they ask.

I wish we had a Steak and Shake that wasn't 100 miles away. Love that place. The one in Clarksville a few years ago had quite a few guys that would cruise in.

nope, people around here stay away from local sonic foods. few years back local dad found out his younger son had eaten a sonic burger laced with acid pill inside. had to be rushed to hospital.

Our local Sonic has one on Wednesday nights and it averages about 20-25 cars. We also have a weekly cruise on Friday in our small town where we get about 60-75 cars which is basically the same people.

Far out man. We have a Sonic may have to try to get something started.

  14. The owner of the local Sonic had been asking about doing one for the last couple years but his old place was too small & difficult to get in and out of. Now that he has built a new store in a different location, we did the first one last month with about 30 cars showing up (not really bad for a Thursday evening) and we (Johnson Co. Car & Truck Club) were talking about doing once a month but not sure if the owner still wants to do it, I think the help was a bit overwelmed by the overall turn out. Perryville and I believe Conway, Ar Sonic's do one, may be more...

here in central pa. there are 4 or 5 in the area and they all have cruise nites. they each take a different nite of the week to not interfere with each other.

  17. Mid-TN has had several over the years. Sparky hosted one in Smyrna, TN with a drive in movie set up each week (Very cool idea) Mt. Juliet, TN held another but it relocated to a strip mall. Seems malls draw more spectators and Sonic falls by the wayside. More cars, more area, more spectators=more $$ spent at the mall and restaurants.

Hey again Travj..... which Sonic are you referring to?

The Sonic in Bridgeville also has a cruise night on Wednesdays. Usually a modest turn-out 50-100 cars..... except when Pittsburgh International Dragway Reunion is held then the turn out is much bigger (300+ cars)

Bill Truby & other PID guys are usually there each week BSing & listening to oldies every week.

BTW.... We will be heading to LA for my son's wedding soon. Needless to say we'll be trying to jam as much hot rod stuff into the limited amount of time we have..... Love going to LA.

A couple of years ago the manager of one of the local Sonics wanted to start a weekly cruise. He made arrangements with the Lowes next door to let us use the corner of their parking lot. We helped him promote it and 65 cars turned up on the first night. We told him what he needed to do to keep pushing it but he didn't and it dwindled and died within a month.

Sonic in Florence has a cruise-in 3rd weekend of each month. Generally a good turn out. So far, no acid laced food. 1st wekend is Joe's Diner, 2nd weekend at a mall, and 4th weekend at Five Guys. 5th weekend is open.
