Hi, my name is Rob Richardson. In 1969 as a car crazy little kid I got stuck in Hospital for 6 months at the age of 7, my much older brother Rick brought in a huge stack of Car Craft, Hot Rod and Model car science magazines dated from 1958 to 1966 for me to read. Well it improved my reading skills and set the course for the rest of my life. My Santa list only asked for Hot Rod scale model cars from then on. Other Aussie kids had football players as their heroes, but my heroes were Ed Roth, Bill Cushenberry, the Barris Brothers, Darryl Starbird, the Alexander Brothers, you get the picture. I sought out the local slot car track at age 8 and I still race slot cars! I got my first decent car at age 17, a 1949 FX Holden, I promised the old guy I bought it from to restore it, yeah right! Moulded seams, shaved, frenched headlights, custom interior, multiple carbs, floor shift, torched springs, mag wheels and gray primer were my idea of "restoring" my ride. I started racing Sprintcars at age 18 on and off till I was 45. I built a few cars during that time as well, including a 54 F100 with a Chevy engine, Jag front and 9" rear. Fast forward to the present and I'm now 50. I have a 55 Dodge Custom Royal coupe mild custom and am currently building a 27 track roadster with a buddys old Sprintcar engine, early Hilborn injector, Tremec and early 11 bolt Halibrand champ rear end. This car will have a dirt track theme and no chrome or billet. I own Speedway Motors Australia and distribute for Speedy Bill's Speedway Motors out of Lincoln (another hero of mine). I'm also the Australian distributor of QA1 shocks and we have been building race and rod shocks for 12 years. I'm glad to finally join the H.A.M.B after reading threads for years and gaining more valuable information. Cheers to all the other H.A.M.B Members! Rob
