Master Cylinder Suggestion?

Ok, here's the deal. I'm still gathering parts for my '26 T Coupe. I've got an Ansen clone pedal ***embly from Tardell (single hole and swing, not drilled) and I'm running 48 Ford car front brakes, and a 63 Chev Impala rear axle (drum/drum).

Not a big deal, right? Problem is, I don't want some giant ugly looking master cylinder on my firewall. Any suggestions for a nice small dual, or possibly even just a single that will work good? No booster please.

Also, who's a good supplier of wheel cylinders for the 48 fronts?

    Thanks,
    CJ

chevy car cylinders from 55-early 60s are not bad looking, they have 4 bolt holes holding them to the firewall and a small cap. The mid 60s Chevy pickups use a single cyilinder with a "fruit jar" cap, with two bolts holding them on iirc, similar to the mid 60s Mustang "fruit jar" cylinder. Kind of depends if you want a 50s or 60s look to it. Also the 50s Ford cars used a 3 bolt one with a kind of big reservoir and a small cap, I think.

if you want a dual, the mid-late 60s Mopars had a bolt on cap, the Chevys had a rather small one with the spring clip holding on the cap.

Thanks, I'll check those out. How about the 48 wheel cylinders? Anybody know the best place to snag those lately? Finding the '63 rear cylinders was a easy as checking with NAPA.

I honesty have not found a cheaper price than NAPA for them. I got a few months ago and paid $35 each. They had to order them but I got them over night.

As far as the master goes you could just run a stock 39-40 ford one. But I'm sure someone can come up with a better looking one. Here is a pic I pulled from the Speedway site.

  6. CJ, I have a Carquest picture book so a guy can see what the MC looks like and where the ports are. Talk to your parts guy and see if he has one, they are common. If not, i will also take a look for you and get a PN.

Listen to your bro on the wheel cylinders

Thanks for the responses guys. We've got a tri-5 single at home, so we'll give that a shot and see how it goes.

Going to stop by Napa after work and order up the wheel cylinders.

Well looks like the price went up at NAPA for the wheels cylinders. PN 8264 and 8265. I just got off the phone with em and they now want $51.10 ea. I paid around $35 each in May.

Well that sux. Is the price going up everywhere on these? Anyone know of a place that's still selling them for under $50 a piece?
