Not to many people make g***ers out of these trucks. I personally think they look better slammed and cruising, but I am bias and to each his own. That being said, I snapped a few pics of this FE powered F-100 running at the Hunnert Car Heads up the last couple of years.

This truck was idling next to me when I started up the (icy) '46 Ford I was driving to go to the Pileup in the morning. I had to get out and open my hood to see if the car was running, cause I couldn't hear or sense anything over that truck! Darn kids and their loud cars!

On another note, I remember a t-shirt that had a low angle of a neat g***er F-1 on it... maybe it was Bruce Gosset?

Sounds like a good way to ruin that truck.

Trucks were rarely used for G***er material in the hey day. With the exception of Willys and Austins (And there weren't even all that many of those), they were just too heavy and bulky to make good race vehicles. Trucks are for pushing (or towing) the Race Car :D

Just search for long island new york volunteer fire department racing rigs. Those f1's were used big time for what is known as b rigs and set up to the hilt with performance goodies etc

Hmmm. Well, since anything with a solid front axle is now considered a "g***er", and all F-1s had solid front axles, arent ALL F-1's "g***ers" by default? Or do they have to have a moon tank as well? Just an old guy trying to keep up in an ever-changing, fast-paced world...

Uh NO - Nothing G***ER about any of those!

maybe it's telling him you shouldn't try and make a G***ER out of an F-1

on account of "g***ers" are so cool and bad-*** and all...
Back when I was in my late teens/early 20s, a local guy around my own age had one that looked pretty much stock other than Cragars, had a proper solid-lifter LT-1 in in with a T350, 10" converter, and 4.88s. Be "funny" to see how some of the modern "bad-***" HAMB g***ers would fair against his stodgy old "resto-rod". Not well, I'd wager...

****! it run on gasoline too! Must be a g***er right...

Why not just build a cool truck to dragrace, or drag your car to the race.
    Why bandwagon label.

Yep, this whole fake "g***er" stuff is getting old- g***ers were what they were- an F1 dressed up today to resemble a g***er ain't never gonna be one, no matter what- maybe should call 'em Posers. And be sure and put a MuthaThumpr cam in there to complete the posing
Love to see some of these "g***ers" line up at Tech Inspection for an actual NHRA race- youtube here we come LOL :p

Tell him to build it. Just be sure he puts enuff motor in it to back it up. Nothing would be more gay than a nose high straight axled F-1 running a mild EFI 302.

Well thanks for everyone's input. The truck used to be dragraced by my buddies father inlaw back in the day. He's planning on putting a built 5.3l and standard ******. Yea yea, its gonna be fuel injected.

Yup. if he's set on doing it, at least rep' it hard. cars gotta be able to run hard or it's posing
Nothin like a jacked up tri-five with a 305/350 sbc and thumpr cam  (figuritively)
what are those expensive slicks for??? Looks

Nothing wrong with fuel injection. I think eight fuel injection tubes sticking through a hole in the hood would help the truck at least look like a g***er.

It just seems so sad to me. This noble truck worked and hauled stuff and did its job well for a lot of years. Now here you guys come to rip away any shred of dignity from the old thing and turn it into a clown buggy, just to jump onto the very tail end of a fad (fake "G***ers") that was a stupid one in the first place. I'm glad to see people on the HAMB calling this out for the dumb*** idea that it is. Your friend should find a mini truck to "G***erize". Leave the honest hot rod and custom material alone. There's in finite number of these things. You guys should treat them better than that.

    Steps off of soapbox...

...and I thought I was a negative person. Not one good post in this thread from you. Sheesh.

You can make anything into a "g***er" I guess. Being HAMB friendly is going to be a bit tougher, though.

I'd vote to use the truck for what it made to do. Maybe just a little lower!

X2- if it wasn't a g***er, it can never be a g***er- just another Poser. Don't forget the Thumpr cam so it can not only pretend to look like a g***er, it can pretend to sound like one. These things not only hack up a cl***ic vehicle (see also: rat rod) to build a fake, most of the fakes I've seen have no where near the real engineering that went into the real ones, and would never p*** tech, let alone be safe at racing speeds- and the hokey posers dishonor the real deal

Yes, I know it's not an F1, but this Chevy has been known to make p***es out at Sears Point. . .
