i aquired 2 15x8 keystone kl***ics for the rear of my studebaker. i've never been a real big fan of them, but now i kinda likem. the spokes were really dull, first thing i did was to remove the black paint between the spokes. then i scuffed up the dull spokes. i went to 0'reillys and bought some chrome tape and applyed it to the spokes, then cut it out with an x zacto blade. i put some clear fingernail polish around the edges to keep it from lifting. it aint perfect, but i think they have a very different look now.
The look a lot better in the pics - They look like 5 spokes instead of 5 holes now. I'd like to see them mounted.
Nice Job! If that is what Keystone would have done to begin with (fully polishing), they would be revered, instead of ridiculed...
nice job ive allways loved them i have a pair of 15x10's and a pair of 15x7's i need to find some center caps for em
I always liked the Kustomags. Wanted some for my Fairlane back in the day but a boot in the military couldn't afford them. Those look good from the photos, who'd a thunk it?
Never quite bonded with Keystones, But man, I could run a set like you modified. I'll put em on my swap meet radar. Thanks, Indy
I like them, I think I'd like them even more if the little reinforcement piece in between each spoke was blacked out (not the lug nut webbing, the part on the rim). Then they'd look more like the old Kustomags which didn't have that part at all, and would help separate the spokes more. That's what I did on my set, except my centers are painted. I like the chrome tape idea, that has a lot of interesting possibilities.
This is what that tape was originally used for "back in the day". I read an article in a "little book" about how to make a grill out of some old curtain rod and if you wanted to save $$, instead of chroming it, you'd tape it. When my friend took his '54 Ford's grill apart, it had chrome tape in the middle to cover the gap.
