If I remember correctly a dual carb setup will run both carbs. simultaneously? That **** down a lot of fuel? Would 3 carbs be a better setup for the street? Thanks, Steve
No and no to both questions, and it depends on a lot of factors, what you have for the build of the engine, how well its tuned ect. For most applications the two two will be better than three two's for the street even with progressive linkage. But both won't help much if it is a stocker without any mods ............... Your right foot has more to do with fuel economy than anything you can do with the carbs........
not sure about strombergs, but holleys will need different power valves to work right. you need chokes on both (if running dual carbs), synchronized throttle linkage and don't even try to use that stock Loadomatic distributor. good luck.
I use (2) 8BA or 8RT marked Holley 94's base plates EE-1. 2.5 power valves cut down at the inner flanges to work in the carbs. Also run these with 45 jets. I am only running one choke on the rear carb and the front carb has the choke ***emble removed but I have plugged the side hole where the shafts went thru. The carbs are setup on progressive linkage. Been running this set up fpr about 8 years now. Have to O/H the carbs about every two years. Depending on what fuel pump you are running you must regulated the PSI down to 3 1/2 lbs. These carbs do not like high pressure and will leak as they blow past the needle and seat. If you live in an area like I do that uses 10% ethanol use the old style leather acc. pump and the ball valve type needle & seat. Some my disagree but it this setup has been working for my flatty for years. If you go 3 x 2's you will have to cut down the power valve size to 1.75 or 1.5. Do not block off the PV's. Some say to do this but in my experience this does not work. They must all run a PV. Do not use a sycronizer to set go the old fashionn way and use a vacuum guage.
