Nobody had started a Model Car thread until, so I should start now.

This time another '48 Ford project that is on my table. a '48 Sportsman.
I had also used the excellent wood decals from Uschi van der Rostenhttp://www.uschivdr.com//url] [...sntrucks4you.de/images/48 ford/wood.jpg[/img]

This is only a quick mockup. The interior is not complete, the engine needs some more detailing. So wait and see when it is finshed

I am a G***ER fan BUT I have to say that FORD woody is one of the NICEST MODELS I have ever seen.

I really think a MODEL CAR thread could be a very popular & long term one once it gets going.

BTW..... I still have the 1st model car I built as a kid back in the 50's...... A WILLYS COUPE.... no wonder I am a g***er fan!!!!

After many years of being bounced around all that is left of it is the main body..... keep saying I am going to get some parts & put it together someday.

It's put away in a SAFE PLACE . So once I firgure out where the h*ll that is (in other words its temporarily LOST & I don't know where it is.... .... ha!!!)

Once I find it again..... I'll post some pictures of the "model car" that was one of the reasons I am still a hot rodder today & STILL LOVIN' those Willys Coupes after all of these years!!!!

There is no doubt what we build as youngsters is very often reflected when we build or purchase cars as adults.

I subscribed to this thread and anxious to see what HAMBers like to build .... both model scale & the real deal.

I sometimes build diecast models to help with the design of my full size projects. The nice part is if I sell the real car, I still have a nice rememberace in the model version.

What a great model you're doing miiwi with that 48 Ford woody. That dioramas is amazing, Fat141. Thanks for posting.

I was at a buddys house and he brought this out. The story is his Dad always wanted a deuce 3 window and before he was able to get one he carved this model of one out of wood and painted it. Here are some pics, its pretty dirty and a couple parts have fallen off but this was done in the late 50's. I thought it was a hell of a job myself! Jim

that jobbie looks better than a lot of KIT models..... reminds me of the ones my Dad has pictures of when he was a kid. He never did rods or customs, only stock T's.
i had been working on a '55 Chrysler but had to slip it into the Purple Pond last night. decided to go with a deep crimson interior instead of beige as stock, and need to redo the black exterior. working on a '57 Chevy 150 but stuck trying to work out a BB chevy install for it.

Been building models for 30 some years, but this is my maiden voyage with full chrome foil. Of course I had to pick a car that has an overdose of chrome to do. The Testors 50's Aqua took almost awhole week to completely dry.

    Kustom '53 Ford

Added Chevy fenders with frenched in lights, made custom skirts, made a cover for the bed, added wings, shaved the trim and handles , made a custom rear window, slanting headlights, '59 Cadilac bumpers to the back, plain bullets on front. Paint scheme will be Ice Blue with white scallops.

cfnutcase<SCRIPT type=text/javascript> vbmenu_register("postmenu_7921466", true); </SCRIPT> , I have found an artist grade 2 inch brush works well in dusting models.
I am sure any soft bristled brush would work as well.
A little easier than rubbing with cloths.

Nice batch of models. The Dioramas are great.I have been doing model cars for along time. I mostly been building modified stock cars from the 50s, and up to the early 80s.I have been thinking of doing something different a replica of my cousin's 49 Ford coupe from the 50s it's the one the got me hooked on cars and the whole motor sports addiction.

No, I still have the 37 pickup. I have thought about selling it and have done some local advertizing. One cash offer was 2K too short and the others are all people who want to trade.
My 58 Chevy mild custom that I also did a model of I sold last year.

    Nice work, guys.

fat141, those dioramas are looking good. You've done a great job on picking colors. They're colorful but not so bright that they look fake...and your sidewalk and asphalt colors look good. Keep up the good work and post more photos when they're finished.
