Is there more proof? Judging by the pictures it could be it, but also could not. There's no holes in the rear for the push bar for one. For most old cars race cars especially there should be some old paint somewhere matching the color. I see none, unless that car was painstakingly dis***embled and then painted and then put back together long enough to age like this.

    Just saying.

Either way, that car is bad ***. I hope it is the same car!!!!!

Hi. Nice piece! I don't know it myself, but, I posted it on the Chicago Gearheads website. I'd bet money somebody knows. We have 250 members, most over 40 yrs.old. Some in their 60's.

I will also see Chevy Shop Roger tonight. There'll be 5-6 guys over 60 there. Good luck. I sent you a PM also.

Sam is a racing legend to us Div III guys. Always fast and a threat to win at any race. I believe he even ran Pro/Stock in the early 70's?

Randy this is not the 56 vette that I drive around now. That one my brother bought around 67 before he went Into the service. The 56 was bought out of Midway city the motor was set way back in the car. Ran a small block 4 Spd. Still have the roll bar and the access cover, seat and belts out of it from back in the day. Car was painted white the last time in ran but when we stripped the paint off you could see the car was painted a lot of times (blue, red, orange, black). It has the same axel, front wheels, rearend that it use to run but I moved the motor back up now it runs a injected big block 4spd. Here is a picture of the 56<O:p</O:p

I am dredging this up from the past because inquiring minds want to know what happened.

Saw that car run at Detroit Dragway and our local track, Tri-City Dragway in Saginaw,MI. Like as been said Sam was a legend around here and always fielded fast compe***ive cars.

    I'd guess a .030 283 block with a 327 crank.
