just before our annual greenwood car show, a guy called and asked if he could put his model a on a flatbed and hang a for sale sign on it during the show. i said that was probably ok, so next day he comes in and he shows me a few pictures and it's a roadster! been in his garage since 1969. "ran when parked". his dad bought it new and the son had used it through school. so of course, it's mine now, for a very reasonable price. the only rust i can see so far is either side of the rumble seat cushion in the floor. the angel on one shoulder says don't screw with it. the devil on the other says open wheel high boy. i tend to go to the dark side.
woweeeeee! That's a beauty!!! Congrats!!!!! Looks great as-is. Would be great as a dark-side rod too. So many decisions, so little time. Either way, you're a lucky devil!!
i did. it was dirty as hell and i almost left it that way for the show, but i weakened and scrubbed it down.
I would stick a dropped axle under it, juice brakes, merc flattie with a 5-speed behind it and a good rearend in it and drive it just like that! Jim
the spare says "thunderbug". maybe the thing is hopped up. haven't had time to try to get it running. they dosed it HEAVILY with oil down the plug holes when it was parked and a boat load of it ran out the tailpipe when the tow guy pulled it up on his flatbed, so it has potential. gonna have to drop the exhaust or it will never stop smoking.
Very nice score, congrats. I like the dark side approach you mention though it is pretty damn sweet the way it is.
*****in score.... as for your avatar, I have drooled over that Diamond T for years. Probably one of the coolest trucks around
